I feel ya on contemplating making the switch to Bermuda or Zoysia. I'm in Kansas and same as you are summers do a number on our fescue lawns and it seems like lately our Falls have been hot and dry too. We were in the 90's yesterday. I have a 20x20 plot of Innovation Zoysia and it just looks amazing in the summer compared to my fesuce. Only thing that scares me with bermuda is I have no experience with a reel mower and not sure anyone around her does maintenance on them so I'd have to pick a grass I can mow at 1.5 or 2"

Great video! I currently have 5,000 sq feet of low mow KBG but thinking of converting rest of tall fescue lawn to low mow as well. I currently use 26" walk behind for low mow. What do you recommend for 25,000 square feet of low mow? I heard you mention towards end of video of getting some type of tri-plex reel mower. Located in MD so I like to keep cool season grass so it stays green in winter otherwise would love to convert to T31.

You got me on the bermuda kick earlier this year. I have small plots of Tifgreen, Tifway and they are both awesome, in my eyes. The Tifway spreads like it was 'stolon'. Easily spreads 6" in a month. Just received some T31 plugs from a sod farm, they are still mellowing out so I can't quite evaluate it yet. I don't know how to get my hands on Iron Cutter here in California. Look forward on what you decide.

I have t31 in my front lawn and IronCutter in my dad’s. There is a difference in color. Lighter spring green in Ic. Ic grows better at taller heights. Ic sends out runners more aggressively. T31 loses some appeal at taller heights. I am cutting at 2.5” with 60” ztr and it still looks good, but beautiful at .5-1”. My dad’s cutting at 3-4” because his yard is so un level and even at those heights IC is still gorgeous. T31 runners have a shorter distance between nodes. Ic longer distance. Both are my two favorite grasses for St. Louis full Sun. For the average homeowner with a rotary mower and unleveled lawns, I’m leaning IronCutter. Taller heights- zoysia is prettier, but it’s picky. At least the old Meyer I have in the back.

I'm struggling with my T31. But i know I'm at fault lol cutting it at 2 inches rn. I just scalped it down to keeo it short and had to leave for a job and stayed 3 weeks out. Came back to tropical sod webworm infestations. The seashore Paspalum on the side lawn went to dirt. T3q actually held up ok. Weeds at a foot tall. Grass super short. Neighbors asked what I did for the grass not to grow lol. Well, actually there was some residual pg .there. I still prefer the look of fine bladed zoysia. Much superior in density and stripes well. And newer cultivars like Stadium and Primo are just as dark as bermuda and no need for a ton of fert.
