Tai Otoshi is a hand technique (te-waza) in judo, often referred to as a "body drop." In this throw, the attacker (tori) pulls the opponent (uke) forward and off-balance, steps across with one leg, and uses their extended leg as a barrier while pivoting to drive uke over it.
What makes Tai Otoshi special is its efficiency and speed-tori doesn’t need to lift uke but instead uses precise timing, leverage, and direction to execute the throw. Its versatility allows it to be used in both dynamic competition and controlled practice, making it a favorite among judokas of all levels.
