I got mine for my 40th birthday 28 years ago and love it. The tailstock mod for moving the chuck forward is awesome. It was a PITA having to relocate it every time you reached full stroke with the lever.

I automated mine in 1981 by installing SS25-1001 stepping motors run by a pair of CY512 Stepping Motor Controllers that I used with a Sinclair ZX81. The membrane keyboard was perfect for use around chips and grease.

Can this taig micro lathe cut hard steel?
@airgunsfreedom700ssp36 жыл бұрын
I hate to disappoint you, but the bed is soft steel. mine has been scratched and dented quite easily. And if you don't oil it, it will rust quite rapidly. Love the tail stock idea. the lever is just totally rediculess.
@RobertSmith-bh5cv11 ай бұрын
I don't own one of these but isn't there an advantage to the lever - if things go awry you could just pull back on the lever and you're out of there. With the screw it would be slower and potentially more dangerous, no?

Like the variable speed set up . Tailstock set up good idea , maybe needs a depth guage ? Will try on mine ....

How much did you buy this lathe for?

£175 eBay

I bought the same model, how do u tighten the Chuck?
@KT-TV4 жыл бұрын
On the chuck there are two holes. You put a round bar in each one and push one forward and one back to tighten or release.
@KT-TV4 жыл бұрын
I keep the bars handy by gluing a rare earth magnet somewhere near the headstock.

@@KT-TV ahh it's weird because mine only has one hole not 2. So I have to use my hand other hand to lock it but it's not going to be tight

@@KT-TV do you now the material of the Chuck, is it just steel? the one I got must just be an older version of the current one. Also do you know where I can purchase the belt that is supposedly 2mm wide because I can't find any on eBay or Amazon?

Where did you get the speed controller

You know your tail stock Chuck shouldn't be turning, right?
@KT-TV4 жыл бұрын
Yes it should. The feed is a screw feed not the stock lever feed which as missing so I was turning it which advanced the bit.

IMHO: FYI: IT'S SPELLED "A L U M I N UM".... A L... U... M I N... U M.." (ONLY 4 "SYLABLES")...... NOT : "...A L ... Y U... M I N... E E... U M ....." (5 "SYLABLES").... PRACTICE SAYING "ALUMINUM"

Well actually it IS 5 syllables because the correct spelling is aluminium 🤷♂
