My tailbone pain started by sliding down my back steps.. The burning started at the tailbone.. Then it would spasm , go up my spine, at the tailbone I was getting a tightening at my tailbone, where it was feeling like it was crushing my tail bone, because it tightening so much... Dpt did not have any experience, but he massaged around the tailbone pain and the started working on my spine around my tailbone... He solved my pain, but I definitely shook his confidence at the beginning..

For a new patient consult, how long in terms of hours or days does a diagnosis take.

Here at the Tailbone Pain Center, most patients are seen and diagnosed the same day. Overall, between having Sitting-versus-standing x-rays of the coccyx done, reviewing any prior imaging (xrays, MRI, etc), listening to the symptoms/history, doing the physical exam, reviewing all of it with the patient, etc., the patient may be here for 3-5 hours. - Patrick Foye, M.D. www.TailboneDoctor.com

Absolutely there are some patients who come to see me for a tailbone problem, but a thorough/thoughtful evaluation here reveals that the pain is coming from somewhere else. This is true is maybe 5% of my patients. - Patrick Foye, M.D. www.TailboneDoctor.com

Hi Dr. Patrick Foye, I have read your book and watched your videos on you tube, and it seems that you're missing some info about tailbone, for instance, you don't describe what the pain actually feels like, also what is best treatment for subluxation of tailbone or dislocated tailbone? I was also wondering, my tailbone has a rightward deviation at the 3rd and 4th end of the tailbone and subluxation from sacrum and the tailbone. I did have an injection about 3 weeks ago...it gave me 5 day relieve but it's getting worse again. What do you recommend for treatment with this? I live in MN and no doctor in the state knows much about tailbone treatment or solutions. My spine doctor finds my pain to be quite funny, which is very ignorant of him and it's frustrating dealing with it for the last 4 months; it came out of nowhere without any injury. I'm surprised that you don't mention anything about deviation of the tailbone in your book or videos, have you not had any patients who had this problem?

Yes, I have many patients from Minnesota. In fact, many of them tell me that when they call the Mayo Clinic in Rochester they have to go through a screening person, and once the caller tells them that the reason they are seeking medical care is for tailbone pain, if the screeners at the Mayo Clinic tell them that they will need to go elsewhere, since there's no one there who specializes in that.

You mentioned that you've had some type of coccyx injection, but please know that there are many types that are available and multiple reasons why injections may not be helpful in a given patient.
