I did a mid drive conversion to a MTB. 750w Befang motor. I really like it but honestly I prefer big hub motor bikes like my 5 Star. Never have to worry about what gear you're in, just get on and go. And go it does. It's much faster up hills than my mid drive, 40mph on the flats and for less $ than that 500w mid drive.

I think we're spoiled with the Dual Star with a torque sensor. Mine straight climbs!! I think you used to a better top end. However, I personally like the whine. It reminds me of the whine of my Kenne Bell supercharger on my 88' Foxbody Mustang. I plan on going out that way. I don't know any of the trails around there. The last time I went there, I bought a churro from someone on the pier. The second the vendor gave me my churro; a stupid seagull snatched it out of my fingers. I didn't even have time to completely grip the churro in my hand! Dumb seagull! 😡🤣😡🤣 I want to do the same course you do your reviews on. It's like a landmark trail. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for another great review!

Just FYI, Hao Qi is mandarin for basically "good energy". If you've heard people talking about "chi" as in acupuncture, it's that same word. For some reason in pinyin (how to write Chinese with the latin alphabet we use) they use Q for the "ch" sound, so it's something like "how chi". (Some other weird ones, "c" on a word like "cai" [vegetable] is "ts", "x" is just "sh", but "sh" like in "shao lin" is more like the "sh" at the end of "harsh")

20:25 My 750w BBS02 is dead silent due to its lighter nylon reduction gear, also used in the BBSHD. In all M series bafangs they use the alloy gear which makes that whine. You can upgrade your BBS02/HD to an alloy gear for 35$. But its heavier and makes that noise. I like the Nylons gear for its quietness. Gives a very premium silent feel to the bike with the sine wave controller bafangs all use.

great to see you review a mid drive. they are not a city street ebike as mid drives are a different purpose. they are slower. :) for us in the woods those are great when the right motor size is used. [750 watt minimum] a 500 is weak - when your 230 lbs a 500 watt is weak. when you want to get up n go? 500 is weak that stem is weak as alot of it is gone to hold that display. I kinda like [personal opinion] that 500c type display that sits to the side, but there are others . . . yeah Im more of a gravel/dirt rider, so stop lights & traffic are not much of a concern. I like the idea of shifting to meet the needs a mid drive isnt built for speed, but the climb, the longer climbs of a long grade. it is not a race bike [for most of us] (but on a long grade a mid drive wont get hot) I hope (?) this one is pretty noisy, maybe because its too small as it has to work harder (?) I need to see a few more mid drive ebikes as Im in the woods were torque is king :) there are mid drive ebikes in the hemiway realm, the A7 like this one has a weak stem and that silly 500 watt motor their D7 pro looks good, but a hard tail {I kinda like that} but a 500 watt weakness - bummer I see eunaro has a 100 watt mid drive [kinda boxy looking frame] but something Id consider.

Bafang m620 is the only mid drive I’d ever bother with but it’s quite pricey. Rated for 1500w peak but people have run much more than that without issues. That motor can usually get you to 40mph if the gearing is optimal.

@@denislitisha7136 Ive been to vancouver a few times and it looks like a city to me. most city streets are paved. real trails are not paved, often steep here & there. logging roads are not paved, some roads are too steep to pave [yup Ive done const a few years, sadly pavement isnt an option] so yeah I have ebikes that do rail trails n city roads n highways that are made to happy riding specs. my ebikes are for that purpose a mid drive 500 watt and under are ok on those city streets too - so they are popular and that helps a shop sell more. so I was being polite as I myself lived & worked in a city for years - ppl there have different needs and yes Ive seen some hard core mtn bike riders that have skills use under 500 watt mid drives, but Im not one of them :) I am realistic and remember my size & limitations. so maybe I can get along with a 750 watt or better mid drive. Iam just [a little] familiar with the bafang mid drives and might be able to work on them and maintain them. Ive been to the shops and tired of their snooty ways. they make it clear that Im not as good as they are. so I smiled & walked away. their loss. Ive looked into the bosch motors - wasnt impressed, but the city shops sell them, so ppl living there buy them. and that is good for them. ;) Ive been watching some UK emtb vids and am impressed with the brose mid drive Im open to learn more about that. its another model thats in shops over there. it looks good and has been made for years. just a thought to look into. :)

just a "thought" for the concern of a chain or drive train issue (?) maybe? add a hub motor on the front? a stand alone system with its own battery, throttle that will get you out & home no chain? no pedal? :) If you want a go fast or up n over? maybe an added hub motor might be an answer?

Pinion is my dream. @jasondelarosa5457Ай бұрын
@MarvinWestmaas the pinion and enviolo are so expensive though but you make some of it back with less maintenance. Stick to sunrace 66% off too good.
@MarvinWestmaasАй бұрын
@@jasondelarosa5457 I didn't want a rear hub gear because of the weight placement mostly, so I would love a pinion but they are indeed way way way out of my price range. Pinion with belt drive -> almost zero maintenance. And with an ebike, it doesn't matter you loose some efficiency. Would be that great to ride when you're empty though, even if it's single digit loss already vs a conventional drivetrain.

Seems like the reviewer mostly ride on pavement....the Summit 1 is a much better bike for dual use on pavement and light off road riding (not hard core technical ride since it is a hard tail). I got the Summit 1 and for top speed throttle only I've reach 32 mph and with a little pedal assist top gear 34 mph (I could even go a bit higher but there was a speed limit of 25 mph at the park recreation area). The Mustang weighs 70 lbs with battery while the Summit weighs at 62 lbs with the battery, so Summit 1 FTW!

1970s automatics are NOT slow. They can shift faster than any person. You're thinking of the 50s 2 speed automatics. Most of the transmissions in service in the 70s were in service from the 60s until the late 90s early 2000s when gears started really multiplying. For example, 10s of millions of Torqueflite (Chrysler) transmissions were in cars from the mid 50s till the 90s.

Hi from Scotland 👋. First thing I'd say is why the silly wee front chainring? Surely there's a better compromise? Nice mid range altus derailleur with hyperglide chain and cassette but no guards on front ring or at derailleur. Also with these full suspension frames, check that the rear pivot points have proper bushes and are not just soft metal that will wear out in no time (that was my experience with a cheap full suspension frame). And lastly, the guy just getting out his bed in front of us at 27 minutes, lol, he looks like a tramp but it's Los Santos so I'm guessing he's probably heading off to get in his Bentley and going home to a multi million dollar mansion 😅. In fact was it Trevor?
@MarvinWestmaasАй бұрын
Advertised as 'premium mountainbike' comes with a decent front suspension capable of actually going on a trail.... paired with a no clutch Shimano Altus and not even a proper narrow wide up front, this can't go on a trail you'll be dropping chains constantly. I would rather have a Microshift with a clutch then a Shimano without, and you definitely would need to replace that front chain ring.

@@ramborambokitchenkitchen6357 XCM has no rebound control, the faster you're going over bumps the faster the rebound has to work. Also, it's probably tuned for mountainbike speeds. Several concerns on shortcuts worry me on the safety and viability of a consistent safe ride, such as frame design and construction, plastic "mid drive" and other parts. All appear to be slapped together to create a "wreck wafting to happen" The front bolt holding the front tire is another concern as it is just one main bolt slapped in and held tight by the threading on the fork.....not well thought out methinks. All it needs is to come loose while riding to incur a bike and rider head over heels crash, I wouldn't insure that bike as an an insurance company much less ride one
