I hope there is part 3 throwing light on how and why the veil (Pardah) was introduced in Islamic teachings, the circumstances, and the rationale behind it.

Most Muslims believe that a practicing Muslim woman must cover up everything other than her face hands and feet. I find this very restrictive and I have a very hard time believing that the Muslim women at the Prophet's time that were fighting in wars and were active members of the society and had so much to do other than worry about if their clothes were covering up their ankles or elbows. I know this is a religious question but I wonder what historical evidence tells us about this issue.

It has been recorded in Hadith collections that women accompanied men to the battlefields, nursed them, gave them water; and also when the Muhajirun came to Medina, they were looked after by the Ansars, who lived in one room houses. There clearly could not have been any segregation. So in the battlefields when women had to run and help their fellow Muslims, they clearly would have had to lift up their skirts as it would have been impossible to run without doing so. Furthermore majority of Muslims living in Medina were extremely poor and could not afford more than one set of clothes. Their clothes - both men and women had large holes and tatters in them. Long and full garments were a sign of luxury and only wealthy and elite people could afford them. Slave women had far greater laxity in terms of their clothing. The concept of Awra was very heavily debated and never had a conclusive answer.

Niqab/Hijab is part of upper class women attire however it was not allowed for lower class women. Tawaif/Londi/Randi never used to wear Niqab in the Subcontinent only SayyedZadi/PirZaadi/Shahzaadi concealed themselves in Niqab/Hijab. At the end its women choice how they carry themselves obviously in Northern Europe, Russia or Canada you cant go without Niqab due to severe cold. The debate might be Interesting but its a long and useless debate because we Men don't care about the outer attire we exactly know If a women is educated, smart and healthy she is the most desirable woman. Few Points for the Subcontinent: 1) Zoroastrian's Introduced the MathaPatti or Dupatta in India 2) Persians Introduced Burqa or Purdah in India. 3) Low status women never used to cover their breasts in India. 4) British Introduced Brassiere in India before that there was no concept of Undergarments for any gender. 5) Castrated Males or Eunuchs used to do Purdah as well. 6) There is a difference between Subcontinent Purdah and Arab Hijab. 7) Islam Prohibits women to show their beauty but don't instruct them to hide their faces. 8) Burqah varies from region in Southern Iran and Gulf Burqa means a Mask but in Afghanistan it means a full Body Burqah.

Ibn Taymiya and his writings and those of his students have recently been used by "Wahabbis”and "Reformists”to provide evidence against madhaib and the Aqueedah of Ahl al-Sunnah wal Jamaat (The Four Schools). As can be seen from the following brief biography, taken from "The Reliance of the Traveller”which is an authentic book of fiqh, Ibn Taymiya (Rahim-ullah) was considered an innovaitor and a heretic and some scholars went so far as to declare his writings as Kufr.

Comrade Why do you always emphasize on these particular words like Bismillah, Nauzibillah, S.A.W, R.A, etc.? Is this rhetoric only to attract pure religious man for abundant viewership and also show, embrace, or advertise before them that your are a 'true Muslim' like them? Isn't it that you have architected an edifice of ambiguity before your personality, whether intentionally or un-intenionally, by keeping aside your true materialistic ideology while doing extraordinary work of propagating a scientific view of the history of Islam? Just asking.

There is nothing wrong in any discussion however its not a Job for a man to enforce his opinion on woman. Low status woman in South India were taxed by the upper class people for covering the breast because the Veil/Covering your body is more like an elite culture. Adivasis/Natives don't wear clothes.
