Taino Bay in Puerto Plata Review | Royal Caribbean | Dominican Republic | Cruises, Rooms & Reviews

On a recent cruise on Odyssey of the Seas, because of COVID, we were rerouted from San Juan and St Thomas to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. We had never been there and really did not have an idea of what to expect. We walked off the ship to be very surprised by the port! Check out Taino Bay!!

This was our last stop on NCL Gem. A great spot to spend the day. It reminded me of doing Resort for a Day. We will be going back to see Part 2 next year.

Yes…it’s one of the only port shopping areas that really had a resort feel to it. It’s a great concept that I hope catches on.

Glad you liked it! The restaurant we went to served bottled water by default, so we didn’t test it. By default, I don’t trust any island water 😀.

thank you for your quick reply. i went to a mexico all inclusive and only ate cooked foods and bottled beverages. on the last day before we left we went in to the town to shop and went to a small restaurant.stupid me tries to "eat healthy" and orders a salad. i got so sick when we went back to the resort.i was worried about flying home the next day. luckily i brought immodium so we made it home safely. note to your followers.no ice in drinks.only bottle products and bring immodium.

It is pronounced Ta-EE-no Bay. Taíno is the native American of Hispaniola and other hispanic islands
