The sun , the sand and the water are really this good at Cayo Santa Maria . I have been many times and this is my favorite spot . Safe and affordable with many good resorts . The staff at these resorts are great so treat them well . If you want the calmest water stay at the Iberostar Ensenachos or adult only Angsana resort which is new . I also stayed a number of times at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. There are other good resorts depending upon your price range. I will be back in 2024 .

It is a beautiful beach indeed. We decided to book a vacation at the "last minute" and went in mid January of 2020, just before all this started to happen (we started hearing about Covid while watching the news at the hotel). From what resort you started? And where did you make a U turn?

Cay Santa Maria is approximately 400 kilometers (240 miles) from Havana - My guess is that drive time may be somewhere between 5 or 6 hours.
