Awesome video, so very helpful! I purchased an Ultimate Sweater Machine yesterday from a seller on FaceBook Marketplace. The machine was "new" in that it had never been removed from the box, but having sat so long the oils on the needles had become gummy making it impossible for the machine to function. Thanks to videos such as this one I was able to clean the machine properly and get it working. I love it! Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to provide this informative video.

Great video. I noticed you did not have sponge in your machine. All the reviewers I've seen recommend a sponge bar? Should I put one or not? Also can I use cooking oil or baby oil for the carriage and knitting bed? thanks!

DO NOT remove the front rails unless you have brand new replacements. Removing them damages the tabs that hold them in place and they will not stay in firmly like they originally did and will pop out very easily.

Thanks for this great video! I bought an old Bond machine on ebay and it really needed to be cleaned. Let me say that removal of those red bars are not as easy as your video suggests. Mine were stuck like a Democrat to a welfare check. I had to forcibly remove the bars with long nose pliers, and it wasn't easy. I used an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the needles and it seemed to work very well (I bought one from Amazon for around 90 dollars). I just used dish soap and water in the cleaner and I took them out, rinsed them in water and put them in the oven at 170 degrees F for a quick dry job. Then, using a bench top magnifier lamp, I carefully put a small drop of oil into the latch mechanism using a round toothpick. I also lightly wiped the needle shank and butt with an oil soaked paper towel. I took your advice and used Hoppes Lubricating Oil. The side of the bottle says it is "a light, pure, colorless oil that will not gum, harden or turn rancid. High viscosity. Gives lasting protection and lubrication. Cleans and protects woodwork. Keeps rust away." I would also like to take time and compliment you on your mastery of the English language! I was very impressed with your vocabulary and the ease with which you provided descriptions and explanations of the subject matter. Good job!

+Luigi Vampa While I appreciated your otherwise thoughtful comment, I must admit that your allusion to the difficult to remove red rail bars as being "stuck like a Democrat to a welfare check" was unhelpful and quite frankly offensive. We all share a common interest/hobby here, so it would be nice if we could maintain a sense of decorum here and leave the divisive politics out of it. Thanks.
