Takara Masterpiece Red Alert Cartoon Deco

I'm so glad I waited on getting Red Alert, because I didn't have to go through the feeling of buying him twice. When he first came out, I remember feeling something wasn't perfect, and now I realize it was the paint job. Mine came in last week, and I'm loving him, especially since my only other copy of this mold is a KO Sideswipe.

I used to in the beginning think I was going for toon accuracy in my collecting, but then things like Fanstoys insecticons came out and I preferred the purple bombshell and translucent chest pieces, then gundog came out and I wished I'd boughten the darker green, then shockwave came out and I preferred Quakewave, or the dinobots I liked the ft-04t better because of the red horns (reminded me of my childhood toy) so I guess I'm more of I want it to feel like how I felt as a child holding this figure but as an adult...because I gotta say when I hold mp-10 as an adult I have that same feeling as I did as a kid holding Optimus, but if I hold a vintage prime now I look at it like "is this really what I thought was so great back then?" That said I think it's cool they made both and for now I'm cool with the original but who knows maybe on a slow month I'll add the toon colored variant, not like I don't have a million vf-1 Macross valkyries in a million different colors lol

Stupid you tube didn't tell me this was here, whats up with that. I overpaid for the 1st RA as an import as i was late to the mp line, and wrote this off as a total cash grab. And against all my better judgement i do like that deco, and can feel my buy now clicking finger getting twitchy. Hmm, we'll see. Also now understand poor old tiger tracks's rough treatment, he's one of only 4 KO's I have, no way i was paying $120 for that mold. Edit: after changing some shelves around the lambo and date unknown molds are still good. Can't see that being said of tracks or hotrod in a couple of years that's for sure. I was quite pleased to see this one arrive, because not only do I lean more towards a cartoon accurate version anyway, I could replace the KO version I had. At the time the official version of Red Alert was going for insane money, so the KO of a B-list character was 'good enough'. Since then I've taken my collection more seriously, so it's real deal or no deal (except for Rat Bat.. I'm not going to buy Sandblaster -just- for Rat Bat..)

that's the one thing I hate about Takara; they release figures that are better suited for my shelf than their first offerings. Had I waited for this Red Alert I wouldn't have picked up the previous one with the red thighs. Oh well. No big deal. Great review as always, 💀 Face. 👍👍

Robert should have let you play with the oversized lambor everything tabs together perfect unlike the takara or the evil mp kos (mine got file 13'd). But undertand it is a novelty item a what if...if you wish. Nerdout does a review and being a limited quantity 4th party item once they are gone it's back to the toyetic takara saddle once again.

The paint on the face is a QC issue if your bot was made in China. If it's made in Vietnam, the face paint is A1.

There is only one thing that has always bugged me about this figure in all its incarnations, and that is how the hell can any city in the world afford to have a Lamborghini Countach as a Police/ Fire cruiser? Other then that real nice figure for a repaint.

Great review, dude! Man, why didn't they go this route to begin with? The diaclone repaints is one thing, but this? They already did this dude, and now here is a "cartoon accurate" version? Talk about milking a mold LOL! I got Sideswipe and thats it! I only need one of each mold (with the exception of Ironhide/Ratchet). This kind of business I feel does more harm than good for the company, as they simply put more money into a product that they gained with the original release. How many people is actually collecting all the repainted versions of every mold? Besides from the "ultra-super-mega-hyper-serious-hardcore" collectors? I meen, Im a fan and collector, but I stick to one of each mold (unless there is a reason of some kind for me to buy a spesific repaint). I get the regular hardcore fans that wants the diaclone figures, but a second repaint version thats "more screen accurate" than the one they already have? Man! Well, its their wallet and their business, but I think its crazy LOL! Personally, I'll rather spend my money on a new mold, and/or a figure from a different toyline. I need to spend my money well, since I still do not have the abillity to pull them straight out of my butt! But hey! People are people, and we all have different opinions and priorities in life. Im spending my "Red Alert+" money on some beer and a pizza ;)

***** Trust me, sooner or later we'll get both Cliffjumper and Jazz, regardless if the car companies are in or out on it. If people honestly belive that a signature from another company is going to stop Takara from making those characters, they better think again. Takara can simply do what they did with Hot Rod and a few others, and skip over the brand logos. Its not like the animation models are 100% accurate to the real cars either. Another thing to think about, is how this MP+ Red Alert is done. All the car brand stuff is painted over. Personally, I think Takara is still hoping that their "plan A" will eventually pan out, and they'll get their signature from these companies, if not, there will be a "plan B", which will be to leave the brand stuff out of the picture. Takara will still be able to release their product, and these other car companies will simply loose their "piece of the pai". As simple as that. The arguement of what Takara can't do and what the 3rd parties can, doesn't stick in my opinion. Takara is in the business of making money, and not to please other companies. Both Jazz and Cliffjumper was in the cartoons, and Im sure that Takaras goal is to earn money on those characters some day. The entire thing with the car licenses is simply just a gimmic to justify a few more bucks on the prices. But yeah, I totally agree with you! The amount of characters that exists within the TF realm is massive, and there is no reason for Takara to be "stuck on repaints", sort of speak. They're only milking the existing molds for more money, which from a business stand point I can understand. Alot of money goes into the making of a new mold, while changing the colors is cheaper, considering that they still charge more or less the same amount of money for their repainted products. The truth is that we don't know what happens behind the curtains at Takara, and we all just have to wait and see. What worries me is the whole repaint business. A new mold is a must have for just about every MP collector, but a repaint has a slightly smaller consumer fan base. Without being too sure about this, I think Takara is actually "loosing" money on the repaints rather than earning, as less people are in on the repaints than on the new molds, which in turn is bad for the budget when it comes to new molds. But thats just my view on it though. We got to remember that the repaints are actual characters too, and not just a option in color choises. Red Alert is its own character and not just a "white Sideswipe". As far as this MP+ line goes, Takara should have went with that from the very start, as this is a "masterpiece" line to begin with. Starting with it now is in some ways very disappointing to the serious collectors, as they've already sunken alot of time and money into their collection. Personally, I won't be swapping my MP's out just for the sake of a more cartoon accurate version. Im way too far into it to do changes now. As far as this MP+ line goes, Im one of those that Takara will be loosing money on, as Im only interrested in the molds and not the colors. I'd be perfectly happy if all of these MP figures came in plain white with line details. An example on how repaints is potentially bad for business is to have a look at Mezco and their 6 inch MKX figures. A small budget to begin with when releasing the first 6 characters, and alot of people wanted them. Then they go stupid and starts to make repaints to milk more money off the molds, which most people didn't want. No money was left to create new molds and the line was shut down. Now... Just to mention a conversation I had with this guy here on KZbin, the reason for that line being shut down, was according to him, "us customers fault for not buying their product". Yeah, right! We (customers) are to be blamed for poor business choises LOL! Im just hoping that Takara won't fall into the same trap with these repaints, though it has to be said that Takara has a "slightly" bigger budget supporting their products.

***** Well, as I said, we don't know whats going on behind the curtains at Takara. Design plans might be on some computer already, we don't know. The popularity of a character is pretty relative, in my opinion. It varies from person to person. Starsabre was character that alot of people didn't know about, but still, he got produced and released pretty early from a cartoon timeline stand point. Personally, I don't know anything about Starsabre, other than from what I've heard from others, even hardcore TF fans doesn't seem to know too much about him. But according to some people, Starsabre had a appearance in the japanese cartoons. From what I can tell, the release of a character/figure depends more on the designer than the fan base. But I've been terribly wrong before though. I just try to apply some logic to it and see it from the business end of things. I just want the characters on my shelf before I grow too old and loose my interrest in collecting, or eventually die LOL! Other than that, I can wait for as long as it takes for these to be released.

***** Though that exact model may nolonger be in production, I think the company itself is still in business. There was alot of different companies making trucks back in the day. But my point is that the licensed Takara products is simply just a gimmic to earn more money, and if need be, Takara might drop the license part for the sake of making another toy. Copyrights on a product/brand varies from one to another, and depends on how "deep" the copyright goes. In the case of Star Wars, it think its pretty well protected due it its popularity and brand size. If Porche experiences a echonomical dive, they might even turn around for the cash, though I suspect the value for them in it isn't all that much. Its more of a commercial deal than anything else, as far as having their name on a toy goes. The more known a brand is, the more expensive it is, even if their product may be crap. Have a look at Apple and certain clothing brands. The brand label is often worth more than the product itself. In the end, its all about how much money the corporations can suck out from our wallets.

Man, I got the KO version of Buzzsaw and Frenzy (or Rumble :P Anyways, the blue one,) just because I only needed Frenzy and didn't want to waste all that money on the real deal. Now, was it all that much cheaper? Not price-wise, but jeeeeezzz! What a piece of shit product! Tolerances were bad, and the paint was... Dude, it looks like they just dipped the pieces in paint and slapped them together. Im never buying a KO product ever again, no matter how much money I'll save, but thats just me though (I guess). KO's are cheap for a reason! Im a collector, and not in the business of putting crap on my shelf.

at least your video started with the Transformers ad. that's a nice change-of-pace. but here's my honest problem. I've been watching a lot of the new videos about a lot of the new Hasbro toys and you have a lot of people that know nothing about G1 that have an opinion about the new toys and that seriously aggravates me. I think I need to choose to ignore these videos because it makes me want to go to their house and stomp on whatever they think is cool, because I'm pretty sure it's got Hasbro 2016 stamped on the bottom. I need you to tell me how you avoid going King Kong Bundy on these people? because I have nothing nice to say to these people but I feel like I need to say something. and I'm pretty sure it's not going to be what they want to hear. and my mother taught me that if I have nothing nice to say,to say nothing at all. but if I say nothing at all I feel like I'm doing an Injustice to people who haven't woken up to the reality of how great Transformers can and should be.
