Bobby, from what I can tell you've seen beast wars but didn't enjoy it very much and that's fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I would highly recommend rewatching the series. Despite what many g1 fans think, (and I'm not saying you think this, but half of tfw2005 does, so it's worth mentioning) the series respects it's source material and gives g1 great importance as the story unfolds, and the twist in season 2 of the show is mind blowing on first watch. The characters are also very well developed, with standouts being Dinobot and Rattrap and their crazy relationship. Overall it was an enjoyable watch and is best when coming in with an open mind, as you do with your reviews. As always thanks for a great review and take care. P.s. Also, Megatron. Yesssssss.

The shoulder pieces rotate towards the inside of the leg in Dino mode to hide more and the pieces above them will come down a bit more to cover as well. Comes mistransformed out of the box

He also didn't secure the shoulder assembly to the back of the knees for dino mode. Limits the articulation a bit but helps hold the figure together and makes for a more cohesive looking dino

If Dino mode had less teases of bot mode, I’d be more interested. But, after MMC’s Jaguar, my next & second MP purchase is between FT’s Grinder, Hydra, and MP-13. Also, The Golden Disc is based on two records sent on the Voyager Probes in ‘77. And, the NASA committee that designed those artifacts was chaired by Carl Sagan.

For the Beast Wars line, I've started wondering if it would be feasible for manufacturers to use something like painted silicone panels to represent the beast hide, as opposed to using textured hard plastic. Silicone would flex with and conform to the mecha innards, without having all the obvious gappiness of hard plastic shell pieces, and without limiting beast articulation either. Real silicone is expensive though. Might rot or attract bugs too.

One thing this review taught me about the figure that I didn't already know: It has an ab crunch??? In the middle of all that inside out engineering? That's outstanding. EDIT: Also the ankles absolutely needed ratchets. Not sure why they didn't throw them in, they were already charging a premium for the figure. I heard floor polish helps but I'm not sure how to go about applying that to hinge joints. EDIT EDIT: I hope the inclusion of display stands is the new norm for the MP line moving forward. They did it for the old seekers and I wish they had continued. So long as future figures with stands also have good ankle joints.

Neat. If mine ever ships, looks like a fun dude. I wasn't in on BW figures until I thought about how much I really did watch the show back in the late 90's, just because it was the only thing on at the ass crack of dawn besides fitness shows. They're putting a lot of care into these figures, arguably more than they ever do the Sunbow offerings. I didn't realize it came with so much and a huge stand, easily as much parts count and accessories as MP-36. That doesn't justify the retail price in the States, but does make the Japanese pre-order price an easy pill to swallow. Good review, and I'm pleased you kept your instinct to let us know how stupid you think the whole thing looks to a couple comments. Thanks, brother.

If you scale Dinobot with the Masterpiece Autobots, Dinobot is the size of a T-Rex, given how tiny the human characters are Spike, Sparkplug & Chip, not to mention Dr. Archeville from the first Masterpiece Starscream.

Looks like Takara put a lot of thought and effort into this figure. It's just too bad that the real world wouldn't let them mass shift the figure so it didn't look like a panel-y box with teeth and claws in beast mode. I do agree that I don't see anyone else taking on BW.

There seems to be a lot of good about this Dinobot, but, not $250 US retail good. Robert D said on SCU he was unsure if it was even $180 Japanese pre-order good. He looks amazing in bot mode, and the tail and the arms up look great in raptor mode, but that belly and ass being an exposed mess...for that price point I want better coverings. The upcoming BW Megatron seems to do a better job in dino mode, but look how much more he is retailing in the US for. It worries me that the 3.0 prime will be over $250 at US retail. But back to Dinobot...great looking figure for sure. And unless one of the 3rd party companies give it a shot, likely the best representaton of him that is going to be seen for a long time as you said. Also, I chuckled at you showing off the moves, good sir. This was a nice, thorough and solid review, Bobby!

Arguably one of THE best characters from the BW series. This is still so much better than any previous release of Dinobot. However, it still stings with those sloppy flaws with the weak ankles, shoulder breakages, and sections not staying tabbed together all that well. For $200-$250, those flaws should not be there on this figure.

Always enjoy watching your reviews. I can tell you're not really into this figure....that's okay. I sold my other MP Beast Wars figures because I couldn't justify spending $250 on Megatron and on a MP series I have no connection to. Honestly, I'd rather get MP Car repaints than MP Beast wars figures...not dissing the figures, just not for me. I admire the engineering and details they are showing off in these newer BW Figures. I will say I enjoy Optimus Primal. I am happy for other fans to get MP figures of characters they love. I just wish they could get through the entire 84 character roster...It feels like the same problem that Capcom had when they couldn't get to Street Fighter 3......lolz

Hello Bobby. I don't mean to bother you with this sort of thing but I thought maybe I could run this by or attention or at least try to get some help. Not that I should burden you with this but, I went over to GCI toys and I had a great first impression, seeing as how they sent me both Zeta toys brawl and swindle. Now it said on the website that Zeta toys Blitzkrieg would be available on August 4th for purchase, So I waited and ordered it on that day because I was gonna guess everyone would either get it on that day, even you prolly, and review it. So when I messaged then on the 6th they never responded to my contacting. So I thought "Ok, maybe they are busy with the shipping of some stuff. Totally fine." I then check on the 7th, today, and that the availability has now changed to September 8th and back onto pre order. Again, I apologize since it's not your problem, I just wanted to see what your advice is on this. I also apologize for making this thing so long. Thank you for doing what you do, and I hope to possibly hear back soon.

I was 11 when Beast wars came out. Loved the show and this character but just can't get into this figure. The parts showing in raptor mode, even though I display most of my stuff in bot mode, is annoying. I'm on the fence right now. Generation toys beast line looks more to my taste and Perfect Effect.

Alex Riggs important to note that the beast mode is mistransformed in this video, specifically the beast mode legs. The official configuration gives much better concealment to the robot shoulder pads and forms a more cohesive overall appearance. Still has a robot butt thanks to the feet and lower legs sitting back there, but it's not as noticeable from the front and sides

That's the best coverage I've seen of this figure. Particularly the transformation. I'm satisfied I made the right choice passing. In fact, I think I'm tapping out on the entire Beast Wars line. They have all been far too expensive. Primal and Cheetor were small enough that their price, while inflated, was not a deal breaker; this is not the case here or with Megatron. I think you're right in saying no-one else will attempt this. Even when 3Ps do Beast Wars, they tend to go stylised rather than show accurate. Like most people, when we first saw robot mode shots, I assumed Takara had pulled off an Inferno-ladder-hiding level engineering miracle. The reality is s hunchback with a massively compromised beast mode. Looks like I'm not gonna complete my Axalon crew... :-(

Are you joking or just overexaggerating? Dino mode panics a bit but i'm honestly astonished they managed to get that clean of a robot mode considering all the shit they had to do to get there. He basically turns inside out five different ways and looks at worst a bit panely in the back. The only big issue i've heard about the figure aside from the robot mode's ankles is that the first release has so far had some issues with the ratchets in the shoulders exploding if you force them too bad.

I mean, how else could you get a show-accurate Dinobot robot mode *without* compromising the beast mode? Dinobot's transformation in the show is *RIDICULOUSLY* cheaty, having whole parts of the beast body just shrink into the robot parts as they expand. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Can’t do $200+ figures. There’s nothing that can really justify the pricing. Seeing beast wars megatron’s price also helped me decide to quit.
