This video is good for people who are just getting into aquascaping and his tanks may spark inspiration in someone to go landscape a tank in his style but with their own touch. I personally enjoy amano style tanks but prefer the dutch aquascaping styles.

I was skeptical about the slightly larger substrate up front, but once completed I think it works well. This will look great once grown in.

That is crazy cool, where I live that wood would be $500.00 in driftwood, One ? after all is said and done ... how long will that tank last before you have to break it down and do a very good cleaning ?

@GreatWhiteNiko It's just a different style that happens to be very appealing to lots of people. How can you say this is mediocre? What do think would make it better? What is your style?

That's because he's the designer of the layout. His staff was taught by him on how to do the things they did.

What are the few plants he puts in the roots and doesn't plant in the substrate? Would love to know. Thanks.

I like mr amano aquariums but i think that he is using only 3-4 plant species so it looks monoton. But i really like his aquariums , and i would love to see him doing dutch style aquariums ( more plant speices) Sorry for bad english

I prefer his natural looks, using few plant species, like you would see in the wild.

Goodness gracious. I'll never understand why people don't "meow" at guys who constantly belittle and rip apart other people's work. So I'll do it... ME-OOOOOW, Niko. Hiss hiss, huh?

You don't know what you are seeing. And most people do not either. Amano has worked his way up to a point where he can say or do anything he wants and people think it's amazing. The lack of new ideas has been Amano's problem for at leat 5 years now. You better keep the way you talk to your mother for your family members. Also stay away from talking to people like you talk to your cat. Hope you see that your "meow, hiss hiss" comment is pretty strange.

i think amano tries to put some kind of science behind his layouts but I think most of it is BS BUT hey knows how to make a nice layout especially with cherry picked pieces I dont think you can make a bad layout unless you just have no sense of creativity

@9929kingfish No. I'm sick of mediocrity, people promoting it, and praising it. Look at my other comments - when I see an aquascape that is really something new I recognize it. But it is very rare.

@GreatWhiteNiko Yeah of course they are about business because that is what ADA is, a buisnes. This is just another way of advertising which is not a bad idea if it makes you money.

@A5BodyBlade So we can all learn to make what he has made and improved a 100 times over? That mentality works for the Asian culture, not for the West. Go watch a video of the ADA contest judging - you may understand that a westerner will never win that contest unless he/she plays by their rules. And what exactly did you learn from that video that you didn't know before? This is not about teaching - it is about having a constant KZbin presence. ADA is all about business now, nothing else.

Again, this is just the same as why all world leaders must wear western style coats to be considered 'formal', not their own formal traditional clothing. Japan is the country that revolutionised aquascaping, therefore it is normal that they lead with their own style and preference. Don't throw negatives here just because you don't subscribe to the views of Mr. Amano. He has every right to do what he does, and so do we. While he's out there making history, keyboard warriors like me and you are arguing over a trivial matter like this. That's what differentiates between us commoners and them trailblazers, i think.

Unless you study composition and art in depth you are not developing anything more than a copy of what Amano has done a hundred times over. Most people can't even discern between Amano's true works of art and ADA tanks that are a complete mess from a style/composition point of view. ADA will only show you how to place 3 rocks in a way that you are happy. Very few people go beyond that. I can name 1 (one). Most folk don't even understand what I'm talking about so they give me negative votes :)

Haha. This is another lame "lesson" from the master himself. A propped up rock is "stable" but creates an "unstable impression". Really? You had to watch a video to learn this? Now go and try it yourself. Your tanks will be mediocre copies of Amano's. It's up to you to figure out why. And for those that do not know: Every single ADA aquascape is a 10+ years old idea. Done, redone, and tweaked many times. Amano himself can't improve them. He hit a wall about 5 years ago. Good luck.

Who are you to knock on Mr. Amano in that way? I know that he might have stopped innovating since a while back, but he is still a giant in the aquascaping world, and without him, you probably wouldn't even have any idea about aquascaping now. Show some respect and recognise him for what he is, or rather, was. He may be overrated but what he's achieved is still not an easy feat that can be easily emulated.

He's an inspiration to millions and a successful businessman, very innovative and he's inspired people to have more natural aquariums the world over. How can that be a subject to ridicule? What's your big idea for the aquascaping world genius? Is it because you've probably no real money and can't afford the products?

@@aidandalton7404 Amano was the superstar of ADA. ADA is a commercial entity - a company to make money. The "inspiration" always had one single goal - profit. As any other company. About 2007 Amano stopped being creative. Either he had no new ideas or the company decided they need to dumb things down. Since then we can see the same aquascapes over and over and over. Usually you can not tell if a "new" aquascape made 2020 is not actually 2008 or 2010. Because there is no soul, no real beauty in it. ADA used a very aggressive and elaborate Japanese marketing approach - one that fools the observer and makes him believe they see and understand beauty. From there people start to spread the word themselves. The rigged up "contest" they organize is also a way to establish the dominance of ADA. You probably do not know how they promoted winners and other such tactics. It is my own personal view that it could be that Amano got sick of all this and somehow that brought him to his premature end. He was a creative person but since about 2007 he literally created nothing. And saw how copy cats, nothing new, spread like wildfire. I spared you many details. Hope you see that I'm speaking from long years of being in the planted tank hobby and seeing things from a perspective that few others have. I started in 1981. Planted tanks only, never anything else.
