On March 24, 2020, Takaya was shot and killed by a trophy hunter. This wolf inspired the world, and a hunter wanted him as a dead trophy. There is something missing in that person's soul. And any soul that gets pleasure from killing and a thrill from taking a life.

How glorious is the nature, infinitely beautiful and intrinsically intelligent in its design and in a contrast how rare are the occurrences of supererogatory behavior of beings of wildlife that so many of us have become to observe and admire and yet - how shallow, how superfluous is an existence of a man who raises a firearm for a sake of a momentary, beastly pleasure to callously, ruthlessly execute this splendidly gorgeous individual of a creature that did anyone no harm but offered so much pleasure to people of spirit, wisdom and substance! I have hard time to master any compassion or understanding to such cold-blooded, ironhearted, insensitive murderer and wish him anything but foul foists to his grungy, wretched remnant of soul! May you rot in hell!

A sad end for such a lonely wolf. First their habitat is overrun by Europeans, then are hunted down, dwindling they struggle to find refuge in an urbanized world, then one lone wolf find safety on a lonely island away from hunters but also any potential mates. He's left with a clearly wealthy lady who thinks the wolf sees her as family and lets him suffer for years on her private little sanctuary. He then finally gets relocated and killed by a hunter. These people are not only irresponsible as stewards of an informal wolf sancuary, they inflate themselves as wolf-kin rather than see the wolf's desperation.

Takaya had been released at the end of January in a remote area of Vancouver island as per the following: quote: Alexander said Takaya was killed in the wilderness area northwest of Victoria - somewhere between Port Renfrew and Shawnigan Lake. After Takaya's release, many hunters stated they would 'get him" and sadly they did. He lived a secluded life on the Discovery islands prior to his swimming to Victoria on Vancouver island. He only survived a couple months after his release date. He wasn't moved, but swam to Vancouver island which is approx. 2 kms. away from where he lived for almost 8 years and he was roughly 10 years of age.

@@esteboboo7823 Takaya left the Discovery island(s) at the end of January/20 and reached Victoria later being seen by residents over that weekend until Conservation officers tranquilized him, had him vet checked and released him with his ear tagged to a remote area on Vancouver island. He roughly roamed the area over many miles however hunters knew where he was as many others, although it was never revealed his exact location. Unfortunately, one article in January made the comment that hunters were after him and yes most hunters in B.C. knew of him as so many others who target well-known wolves.

It was a pleistocene lion that had a basal length of +380mm and since the condylobasal skull length is normally 25-35mm longer than the basal an estimation of +410mm and thus we can estimate a greatest skull length of +460mm making it equivalent or surpassing the largest cave lions both in America and Europe

Until the moon and the stars shines brightly in the night sky, Our love for you is infinite wisdom of faith." @@TS-hf3cn If Cheryl Alexander had not photographed and filmed Takaya for close to 8 years few if any people would have known he lived such a secluded life on Discovery island. Through her filming, Nature of Things created a documentary last year outlining his life on the island which benefited many other wildlife species. He made the decision to swim to Victoria and roam through a residential area for a few days until he was tranquilized, vet check and released at the end of January. Wolves rarely run when they see hunters if they see them at all. Sadly too many hunters vowed to "get him" when they heard he swam to Vancouver island. One example was the former pack leader of the Lamar pack in Yellowstone who was killed at the end of November, 2018 when she left the safety of the park, however "legal" it was to take her life a hunter killed her in the middle of a back road which supposedly is considered illegal to do so. Takaya was a magnificent wolf but due to his "celebrity" status his life was at risk when he returned to Vancouver island.
