I think it also has something to do with age. she wrote this when she was 15. she had no fear of the world and just ready to fight anything with the loved ones. meanwhile the recorded one is a maturer version. she'd known what it's like being hurt and when she finally found someone who she's ready to take a chance with, it sounds wistful. or that's just me projecting myself lol. I guess it's just amazing in my 20s I can still relate to a song written by a 15 y.o yet it doesn't sound cringe at all ❤

@@d_p_s literally amazing how the song embodies teenage feelings and growth. and as the “Nicole” album pays homage to teenager Niki, it combines all feelings of nostalgia, heartbreak, and the urge to love again, but better this time. ❤‍🩹 this song makes me extra emotional. maybe it's a reminder of my carefree self. it's great to grow wise through time, but you sometimes miss being bold and indulgent to the world. anyways i just love the song sm lol i can write a lot about it aaaaah
