Hi Becky i’m from Taiwan and love your videos!! They’re the only videos I can watch when I’m working without being distracted! When you mentioned “Taiwanese” I had to zoom in and check the characters! They’re Chinese characters (though I can’t tell if they’re traditional or simplified) Taiwan and China share the same written characters but we still use the traditional ones while China simplified them starting from 1956. Now when people talk about the Taiwanese language it’s often referred to the “spoken” language, which means fluent Taiwanese speakers don’t necessarily recognise the written system. Anyway, don’t want to bore you with the details. I love your videos and will introduce them to my students (I’m an English teacher)

I can tell you guys a funny (also sad) story about the Taiwanese language! A few years ago a famous porn star from Japan wanted to move to Taiwan (it’s very common for actors and actresses to move between the two countries) She wanted to fit in so before coming to Taiwan she went to the bookshop in Japan and bought some “Taiwanese” books. She taught herself the language and when she arrived in Taiwan people here were shocked that she actually spoke “the dialect”! Yes, unfortunately my mother tongue “Taiwanese” is a dying dialect despite the effort by some people who tried to preserve the language using romanisation. Taiwanese was banned by the KMT (a pro-China party) for many years. Mandarin Chinese has been the main/official language in Taiwan and China. Half a century later, fewer and fewer people are active Taiwanese speakers. Many young people nowadays can only understand a bit of the language, let alone speak it. I reckon the language may die out in a hundred years. 😩
@Whoopsididitagainco11 ай бұрын
That’s so sad. Do you speak taiwanese?
@maylinleedsmayi11 ай бұрын
@@Whoopsididitagainco yes my first language is Taiwanese and it’s the only language we used in the household as my grandpa only spoke Taiwanese and Japanese (we were colonised by Japan for 50 years) and grandma only spoke Taiwanese. But when we started schooling Mandarin Chinese is the official language so many children soon adopt Mandarin to be their main language and gradually forget how to speak. I guess it’s not that sad as it’s probably the natural selection of minority languages. I talked to a guy from Wales and he can’t speak a word of Welsh. I guess it might be very similar in the UK and many parts of the world and it’s probably a good thing for the ruler of a country. Some people say that the reason why China has been one country is because they united the language (as opposed to Europe where every country got to keep their own language but is divided to many small countries) It’s just very interesting to investigate why a language is dying while others are circulating! (Wow this turned into an essay!!! Sorry😅)

Hello! It’s definitely an odd layout but I LOVE the B6 layout. I usually write a weekly to do list for person items (work is separate) so, this helps me with that. The boxes can be appointments and things that HAVE to be done that day and the bottom left for my running to do list and right side for reflections.
@ultimatecin_7311 ай бұрын
Looks like the highlighted numbers at the side of the weekly in the B6 is meant to indicate the current week, it's just vertical instead of being in a calendar format like the Cousin.

I love the layout of the Take a Note. I was going to get one before I found the Papertess Designs one and also figured out that I'm not good at journaling every day. I also find the B6 Take a Note strange. Not necessarily in a bad way, I just can't figure out what could be done with it. It's obviously designed for ppl who don't really need to time block - so maybe a small running todo list with spots at the top for some priorities and/or appointments? I don't know, but I look forward to seeing what planers end up doing with it.

I write really small, but definitely not small enough for that grid. Otherwise, I could see myself using their planners. But I already know what I want to use for 2024.

Mine arrived too. Can’t wait to share. The B6 layout although a deviation from their other layouts isn’t all that odd of a layout. There’s a few other brands that make a similar layout and have for a while and are quite popular - Nolty and Takahashi Torinco are two I’ve got.

The weeklies are designed with no time markers. The numbers at the side refer to the dates, and the dark highlights refer to the week you're on. To me the strangest thing is the way the pages are gridded. TAN said it's to accommodate those writing in Chinese (and other non-Latin based alphabets) and for users writing with the usual alphabet.

I wish they had a B6 slim that is just like their A6. However the A6 format is Exactly what Ive been looking for!! I would modify the Friday to be a stacked weekend, then use the "Saturday" column for my weekly to-do list. Then fold the middle page to make a faux dutch door, so that each day the horizontal weekly and the running to-do list are always visible. This is exactly the way plant-based bride creates her planners and I've been drawing it out in a bullet journal. I can't believe it but I didn't know About Take A Note until now. WTF were they thinking with that b6 layout? LOL

Hi, just as a suggestion maybe you could use the Take a Note medium as Meal planner. The top sections could be breakfast lunch and dinner. The underneath open spots could be your lists of Food on hand, or need to buy etc. What do you think? 😊💜ya

Becky, I went with the A5. Enabler, you are, ha! It was a toss with Papertess and Sterling Ink. I've come to really like her common planner. I was so creative this year, but it's hard to get her planner. I'm so tempted just to get a Seven Seas notebook and just create what I want. It's still on my mind. 😊❤ love your enthusiasm, Becky. Can't wait for ither videos.

YAY!!! I’m so excited! The A5 TAN is so beautiful! I can’t wait to get mine!! I’ve preordered mine from a shop in the US. Waiting for the my preordered TAN & SICP planners is really testing my patience. Everyone who offered a planner in the new Tomoe River Paper ”S” is having shipping problems this year... I’ve decided to not use a Hobonichi Cousin for 2024 after 6 years, (I've ordered 2 A5 SICP’s as well) and I’ve been experiencing serious FOMO since Sept 1st, by not having a 2024 planner in my hands yet. I hope you decide to use the A5 TAN again in 2024, watching you make the TAN so beautiful and the columns being bigger, along with no daily pages, made me purchase mine... I am planning to split the daily columns in the TAN and use it for work and personal plans. Or, I may use the TAN or a A5 SICP for my Astronomy learning and journaling. I am not sure, since I had planned to only use the A5 SICP half and full years for 2024... I’m super excited to have someone I already watch & subscribe to who already uses the TAN planner (& the reason I purchased it) makes me extremely happy. Thank you for filming this, I’m in the process of rewatching all the TAN planner videos you’ve made so far... Please, will you film everything you do to set up the 2024 A5 TAN like you set up the Cousin... For my A5 TAN, I am looking at tabs, and looking to see if monthly kits and stickers fit the TAN somewhat as good as the Cousin... I have monthly kits left from 2023... I know that most of the TAN & Cousin planners now being in english helps by not having to get stickers to cover the Japanese writing ( I currently use a Cousin Avec)... Thanks for filming and having such a great channel ✌🙏🤎

Yoseka Stationary explains the grid in the TAN B6 very well, and Just Scribbles gives some ideas of how to use the weekly spread in her video. I will be using the B6 3 top sections as currently reading, watching and which craft hobby I am currently working on. I think it is a good match because i pan on using the back pages as a commonplace book

I could not bring myself to get the B6 because of the exact things you pointed out in your video. Thanks again for sharing. You are amazing and I am so proud that despite you occasionally not dealing with your own “stuff” you still share and bring a bright light to this world of journaling/planning. You are a rockstar!
