So sorry that the music track wasn’t loud enough! We will definitely make it louder in the future! First time checking out Queensryche! Everyone was saying how much we were missing out and we can’t disagree! Which comes next?! PLEASE let us know! This was phenomenal! Also this is the last chance to get those Q&A questions in 🙌👍🔥🤔

Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime is awesome from start to finish. Father: you probably have heard of Silent Lucidity, which was on their Empire album, which was also pretty successful. I've never been a big fan of ''take hold of the flame'' myself, so i would recommend anything on their ''Operation Mindcrime'', or the songs ''Queen of the reich'' (that scream at the beginning) :o or ''Jet city woman''.

@@Cour-des-etoiles I agree with everything you said here. Take Hold of the Flame is a great showcase of Geoff's vocals but the song itself feels like it is missing something to me. I would recommend "Eyes of a Stanger" or "I Don't Believe in Love" from Operation Mindcrime in addition to the other suggestions.

Have to agree here .. didn't really care a lot for this track but it's good enuf for me to check out more from them. I know the band name .. just never delved into them. So here's the entire story (see link to read up on it)to their album "Mindcrime" .. very interesting .. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation:_Mindcrime With that said .. I particularly like "Suite Sister Mary" from the album (live vid a must). Made me think of Nightwish but maybe that's just me. I sure would like to see you two react to this one track tho .. that would be awesome!!! Here's the link to "Suite Sister Mary" .. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnS9eJylo5dje5Y Got a sneaking hunch y'all will like this one. Thnx guys .. b safe & well .. peace & luv from Georgia ✌🏼💞🤘🏼🍑

You guys should check out their album "Operation Mindcrime" (1988). One of the greatest prog metal albums ever made. I listen to it every week. "Suite Sister Mary" is my favourite track, but since it is very much a prog album, a rock opera really, it would be odd to listen to any one track in isolation. That said, if there's some good footage of them performing it live, it might be worth checking out. Somebody can probably recommend the best recording to go for.

My bandmate who later became bass player for Iced Earth .. Back in 84 said that Queensryche was going to be playing Hammerjacks in Baltimore . A small club . So I went and paid 5 bucks at the door . Found myself a barstool overlooking the left side of the stage . Thee best seating ever .. That night it seemed like Queensryche was all mine .. They kept on shaking fist and pointing at me throughout the concert.. . Then it happened .. During the lead break of this song . Geoff climbed the PA system .. Grabbed my hand and stayed with me until the lead was over .. I 'll never forget the look on the lead guitar players face .. " please don't push our singer off " .. This song is my life's anthem .. I took hold . Now I am fighting stage 4 cancer .

Geoff's vocals are phenomenal! He goes from a nice low voice. Rides the C5 and then soars up to the E5! All of the Bruce comments? They both have beautiful voices. But, Geoff is beyond him. You need to read the lyrics to this song. They are amazing! Especially for the time it came out. It's a message young people NEED TODAY! I have two sons and they've always loved this song. Since they were little. 💕

I'm usually not a fan of live performances. And listening to this performance, along with my recent fascination with live performances by Dimash Kudaibergen, Angelina Jordan and Diana Ankudinova, has made me realize the reason for that: Most professional singers just aren't good enough to do their own songs justice when performing live. The exceptions to that are singers such as Geoff Tate (the lead singer for Queensrÿche,) who sound at least as good live as they do in the studio. My favorite Queensrÿche song is "The Lady Wore Black" (highly recommended.) They do an amazing cover of "Scarborough Fair." Their best album (IMHO) is "Operation: Mindcrime" (a "concept album.") My recommended song from that album is "Eyes Of A Stranger." That album was a huge commercial success, but their next album, "Empire," is the one that sold the most copies. The monster hit off of that album was "Silent Lucidity."

This song is very inspirational, I had graduated high school and was working night shift at the local grain elevators in my state, so cold I could barely move and dirt from head to toe and I remember hearing this song (not my first time), and right after the song was over I had made up my mind to go back to electronics school and start a career doing something I enjoyed. Dad! How could you have missed Queensryche, oh well, you can enjoy them now. They were a progressive band, some of their songs I hated at first, but by the third listen I was hooked. Check out Operation: Mindcrime, considered one of the best concept album of the 80’s, a great story from start to finish and the story is still relevant today.

I LOVE watching people discover Queensryche! My favorite band (original line-up) of ALL time! They are a very versatile band, always delivering intense, well-written and well-executed songs. You need to hear a dozen of them to get a sense of what they're capable of. Geoff is AMAZING, as are ALL the band members! Saw then live multiple times, and theirs are the best live shows I've EVER seen. (I'm not a fan or anything!) I would recommend: ALL of Operation: Mindcrime. (essential). The Killing Words (live 1992 MTV Unplugged). One More Time. Real World. Walk in the Shadows. Anybody Listening? Another Rainy Night. Screaming in Digital. I Dream in Infrared. To get you started. I was a Queensryche fanatic back in the day and was thrilled when they finally hit the big time after the "Empire" album shot them into the stratosphere because of the success of "Silent Lucidity." It was #9 on Billboard's Hot 100 and #1 on the Album Rock Tracks. Because of the success of the Empire album, Queensryche was finally able to go out and do concerts that included Empire tracks but also the entire "Operation Mindcrime" album. Hey dad, I'm sure once you hear Silent Lucidity, you're going to go, "Oh shit yeah, I remember that song." MTV played it constantly and it was all over the radio too. You'll probably recognise "Jet City Woman and "Eyes of a Stranger" too as the rock stations had both songs in their rotations daily - and it seemed like hourly in my memory. Although I love "Take Hold of the Flame," it really isn't well known outside of those of us who were mega fans. This video reminds me of the time I ran into the band at a club - minus Geoff- and I had a nice conversation with truly nice guys. None of that obnoxious "I'm a rock star so worship me" crap that I'd encountered from others. Anyway, if my memory serves, the way the guys dressed and the make up that you saw was during the time when the record label was trying to push them into being a "glam band" because they didn't get the music or their progressive rock style. By the time of the Operation MIndcrime and Empire albums, you can see who won that argument. Anyway, highly suggest listening to Operation Mindcrime album in one sitting as you'll want to understand the story that this concept album is telling. Happy listening. And just know that in my 20 years of concert attendance of everything from Carole King to Led Zepplin to Aerosmith to Bruce Springsteen to Heart to Elton John to Def Leppard at places like Oakland Coliseum to Golden Gate Park to Winterland to the side of ski hill in Tahoe to Mile High Stadium and Red Rocks in Denver, the Empire/Operation Mindcrime concert was and is my hands down favorite. What an amazing gd show. Simply the best ever. ...

@@davemac1197 Hey Dave, thank you so much for checking in. I’ve been doing ok, been a lot going on these last few weeks. Mostly finals and schoolwork, so I’ve poured a lot of my time into that. On top of that, my family and I went to a wedding about a month ago and came home to find that a pipe burst in the upstairs bathroom, which left much of the house destroyed. I’ve been helping my parents move stuff around and helping with minor insurance stuff and what not in addition to studying for finals, so it’s certainly been hectic on my side. Everyone is healthy though, and luckily nothing of value was destroyed so it certainly could’ve been worse! We’re officially going to start working on some parts of the house this weekend, which is a good sign. Aside from helping my parents around the house, since the summer is here I expect to have some more free time, so I should be around here on the channels more often. Once again, I appreciate you checking in on me, Dave. It really means a lot. I’ve certainly been thinking about you all as well. How are you and everyone else holding up? Any word on any more ELO reactions on either channel?

@@adama1189 - thanks for the update - I thought you might be just busy with college finals but I'm sorry to hear your upstairs bathroom took a vindictive turn against you going out for the day! That's awful. I hope it all gets sorted out on the insurance okay. I've not been on JEM for a while - they've gone very American-centric since I missed two surprise livestreams in the middle of the night (UK time) that got deleted, and now they've taken to playing games with hidden Easter eggs when only America is awake, so I feel like I've been edged out of the band. I don't think it's helping subscriptions as much and I'm aware of at least one Australian (Greg Raymond) has unsubscribed as "time to move on". Wine Not! Reactions also seems to be releasing very few videos, and at irregular times, so I think they're struggling as well. The YT notifications are so unreliable now I can only get alerts of personal replies if I have Outlook open all day, so Win10 tells me when I get an email copy - seriously! I can keep up with F&S because of their very regular schedule, and it still coincides with my coffee break, otherwise I wouldn't know what was happening. I've been commenting on Reel History (just finished Band Of Brothers) and also spent more time on TIK History, particularly enjoyed his video reposte to getting owned by socialists (trolls). Meanwhile, here in Birmingham we have been getting all our April showers this month - it's pouring with rain again right now. My bathroom seems to be okay (just checking). At least everyone is healthy and still fighting fit, eh? We're not finished yet! Good to know you're okay, and don't let the gremlins grind you down, Adam. Cheers!

@@davemac1197 Much appreciated Dave, and of course glad to hear that you’re doing well. The bathroom and the rest of my house are starting to come along, we’ve already torn stuff apart and now we’re waiting for an asbestos removal for the basement. Once that’s done with, we’ll be on under way with restoration! Sorry to hear about what’s been going on over at JEM. Now that you mention it, I do recall them starting with this whole Easter egg thing. Even for me over here on the East Coast, the games and the live streams were a bit late for me. I thought the whole Easter egg thing was cool the first time or two, but after that I felt it was a bit redundant. Not sure if E was trying to treat her regulars by giving them “early access,” however I don’t think it has really worked out that way since others have caught on and it takes away from others such as yourself who are asleep when all of this transpires! I’ll definitely stick to the channel since I enjoy watching E’s reactions and communicating with everyone in the community, but I don’t see myself feeding the fire with those games and late night streams. I’ll be back here on F and S on Saturday at around 3:30 EST (I usually work until 2:30 on Saturdays) and see what Ethan and Larry have in store. As for your YT notifications, I’m assuming you’re using YT in a browser and not an app? Have you tried a different browser or logging in and out of your YT account?

Geoff Tate was 25 in 1984 where he could hit those E5 high notes. Geoff is 63 now and can't hit those E5 notes but STILL sounds great.

This + Queen of the Reich are the most representative Geoff Tate sung Queensryche songs! 😎 David P Kyle coached GT, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell + the Wilson sisters. They all lived in Metro Seattle. Other GT sung Queensryche songs. Eyes of a Stranger, I Don't Believe in Love, Jet City Woman, Another Rainy Night, Is Anybody Listening?, Silent Lucidity.

So glad you are doing Queensryche! So many great songs most people have never heard of, Queen of the Reich, Warning, The Lady wore Black, Jet City Woman, I am I , Empire. Of course there is their beautiful ballad that I put up there with Bohemian Rhapsody, "Silent Lucidity". The video is awesome with it. You guys are enjoyable to watch. You will not be disappointed with any of Queensryche.

Not operatic trained. Same vocal coach as Ann Wilson and Layne Staley. All from Seattle. Geoff only took 10 lessons. He's a natural. As soon as I remember the vocal coach's name, I'll add it. David P Kyle.

I am so excited that you were finally able to introduce yourselves to Queensryche and overjoyed with your reaction to them. I've already seen some of the songs I'd recommend in the comments, but I will reemphasize the following that you must check out (studio versions): Eyes of a Stranger (Operation:Mindcrime) Empire (Empire) Jet City Woman (Empire) Silent Lucidity (Empire) (Rock ballad)

That was a blast from the past!😀 Great reaction as usual. I must admit I don't know too much about them but the album I remember is "Operation: Mindcrime" - an early heavy metal concept album! The tracks I remember hearing most at the time were 'Eyes Of A Stranger' and their epic - 'Suite Sister Mary' at over 10 minutes long🤘😀

A lot of people might tell you to listen to Operation Mindcrime if you wanted to get into Queensryche more but I suggest starting with their first two albums--The Warning and Rage for Order--I personally think they're better because Mindcrime (while good) is a bit gimmicky imo what with it being a concept album that can be almost kind of a stage play while the other two albums are just simply normal albums with great songs :)

From what I've seen elsewhere, this was the encore performance... still having that power and control. You really need to listen to the entirety (songs in order) of Operation: Mindcrime. The songs tell a story... wouldn't hurt to have all the lyrics handy to follow along.

Nice! It's about time these guys get your attention. When they first came out the vocals were pushed beyond what Iron Maiden were doing at the time in my opinion of course. Oh the studio version on "The Warning" is just as spectacular. The band peaked with Operation Mindcrime. Again, my opinion.
