My lover's got humor She's the giggle at a funeral Knows everybody's disapproval I should've worshiped her sooner If the Heavens ever did speak She's the last true mouthpiece Every Sunday's getting more bleak A fresh poison each week "We were born sick", you heard them say it My church offers no absolutes She tells me, "Worship in the bedroom" The only Heaven I'll be sent to Is when I'm alone with you I was born sick, but I love it Command me to be well A-, Amen, Amen, Amen Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life If I'm a pagan of the good times My lover's the sunlight To keep the Goddess on my side She demands a sacrifice Drain the whole sea Get something shiny Something meaty for the main course That's a fine looking high horse What you got in the stable? We've a lot of starving faithful That looks tasty That looks plenty This is hungry work Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife Offer me my deathless death Good God, let me give you my life Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife Offer me my deathless death Good God, let me give you my life No masters or kings when the ritual begins There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene Only then I am human Only then I am clean Oh, oh, Amen, Amen, Amen Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life Naar het Nederlands vertalen
God if only I had the ability to draw Ive would of sketch this scene and make art out of it. It looks so mesmerizing and the lighting makes it look like there’s nothing to fear, tell your fears and let them out.

I love all the people praising God and Jesus in the comments when this song is literally anti-organized religion
@wulpez2 жыл бұрын
That's not necessarily untrue, but you can narrow the idea that the guy who write the song almost certainly has no problem with *all* religions. He has an issue with the discrimination and hate against homosexual and LGBTQ+ individuals, which is often found within organized religions. It's important to note that there are some good churches out there that really do follow the truth, and don't discriminate against, hate, or fear anyone. Anyone is welcome into a true house of God, especially sinners. Many more progressive churches don't even consider LGBTQ+ or homosexuality to be a sin, and this is a view I second from a more deliberate reading of the Gospel.

@MomsRavioli2 жыл бұрын
I think it's wholesome that despite what this song is about, religious folk still find time to send prayers your way. And atheists like yourself have no right to say who goes to hell or and who doesn't. You are the one full of hate.
@wulpez2 жыл бұрын
As a Christian, can I just say I'm embarrassed? Seeing people running around bible-thumping or saying 'Amen' shows that they aren't even as religious as they claim to be. Even the other reply to this comment. Seriously? You're just going to throw three verses with no context, no elaboration, and no further information and without even a reference to which translation you're using? It's insane. Ignore all of these silly people who actively tarnish the good word of my Lord. My view (a well-researched view of the original Greek texts, and one held by many a Christian and growing) is that homosexuality is not a sin, and that Christ would not have approved of this discrimination, hate, and fearmongering over and towards LGBTQ+ and homosexuals. Hate the apostasy of these un-Christians, do not hate my Lord or the faith in its entirety. There are genuinely good people out there, and genuinely good churches that spread real good news and openly welcome all sinners, and do not even consider homosexuals to be exempt from their house or to hold them in sin. I have messaged this because it's important to me that everyone has a chance to open themselves up to the real truth without all of these deluded 'Christians' blocking their path to salvation. Be free from the hate and discrimination, and find the truth for yourself - where-ever that leads you. Nobody can ever tell you the truth - you have to discover it for yourself. You're absolutely right that the very hatred these people bring against LGBTQ+ and homosexuals is exactly the thing that's going to bar them from eternal life.

You don’t have to be a Christian to come to Christ, you come as you are and then once you let him into your heart…you change. It’s not forced, you literally don’t find the unbiblical things you used to appealing anymore. I was a witch and homosexual, I practice spells and lots of other things I won’t mention. One day I was in my DARKEST hour, never wanted to die so bad in my life…I hated living. Then, something came over me and I felt like I wanted to pray. Like I wanted to cry out to God. Mind you, before this I couldn’t get on my knees and pray. But now, here I am…wanting to pray. So I did, I poured out my small broken hurting heart to God. I remember distinctly asking him to make me feel whole again, I felt soooo empty. Also, in this time I was unable to sleep on my own. I stayed up until I passed out. Well, after I prayed I got sleepy and went to sleep. Despite other times I’d cry and never got tired. The next morning, I felt lighter. Like a ton way taken off my back, I didn’t wake up hating that I did. I knew God was real and he heard me: he’d healed me. Since then, I haven’t left. Yes. I have my weaknesses, I’m still human and so I give into them sometimes. But God has never left me since I’ve let him in and continues to make me a better version of myself. God does not hate you. He hates the sin, you are not your sin. I wish you all the best on your journeys, don’t die without know Jesus. He saves lives.

Actually it doesn't mention only LGBTQ+. This song talks about woman in religion too, when the bible said to treat woman like jesus welcomed/introduced the church. Because normally in a marriage the wife's were the ones who were used to corrected their husbands actions by telling them if they would go to the church. That why at the begging of the song there's a verse saying "I should've worshipped her sooner" or something like that. Edit :I corrected some things I wrote Correct me if I'm wrong with something
