Discovered this band a few days ago. Can't stop listening to their material, paticularily this track. Their music is so authentic, organic and tight. The purity of Audra's vocals counterpoints the heavy and 'dirty' feel of the rest of the band, giving their sound a genuine 'beauty and the beast' vibe. As the modern music world largely seems to be slipping ever deeper into a self-imposed vacuum of mass-produced mediocrity, it's heartening to see them gathering such a following, and verifies that there is a sizeable chunk of people who still turn to the 'real deal' for their preferred listening. Reading through the comments, it's unsurprising to find that a lot of their followers hail from my own generation, and an era where the wheat and the chaff were seperated in short order. The world needs more bands like this. Kudos to them all.

So many times I feel old and crotchety because I like originals better, but I like so many F211 covers equally or more than the originals. Maybe it's just the rock vibe you bring to the songs; whatever it is I like it. Also, Audra's voice is so awesome since it seems very adaptive. You have the grungy/gritty tambre in the alto range that just seamlessly works with the rock spin you put on songs, and then you pop up to the high notes for "in a day or two" and they're super crisp. Not sure if that was falsetto but it was awesome either way.

This song has always been a favorite, and I love this version. Yet just this evening, after listening to your version earlier today, I heard a very different version on an episode of the Magicians, in which several characters sang it together in memory of someone who had died, which gave me a new respect for the song. Since that is the second time I have heard it in connection to death (Deadpool 2 being the other), it made me wonder what this song is about. Looking at the lyrics, it could be a goodbye song in the face of impending death, though it could also be about taking a chance on a relationship despite the specter of morality we all live with.

@michaelmcneal16422 жыл бұрын
I've been listening to F2-11 for about 2 months. When you talk about cover songs you hear three different possibilities. The first possibility is that a band will do a picture perfect cover of the song. While getting all the technical aspects of it right is great, we already have that in the original song. The second one where most of the bands lie is that they do a crappy cover. Once in awhile you get a band that does a cover song their own way, which is really good and it's also a tribute to the original artists. First to 11 is a band that is in the latter category. Whenever I hear a song by them that I haven't heard their version of, I'm always amazed by the fact that if you didn't know any better you would swear that they wrote these songs. They're not carbon copies but their own versions which are very good in their own right. Their stage presence, vocals and instrumentals are all their own. They're such a refreshing group to listen to as I indicated before, it sounds like you're listening to their own material. I have yet to hear a version that I don't like as much as the original. Keep rockin' F2-11. You definitely have the talent, and certainly my ears!!
