I've been a TT fan since 1992 and this is 1 of their best. It absolutely stuns me that this was forwarded for an Oscar and wasn't shortlisted cos if anything could've broken them more in the US it would've been an Oscar win! It's such a stunning song that I can't believe it was never shortlisted must be 1 of the biggest mistakes in Oscar history!

Absolutely right, this song is stunning live, check out ‘take that presents-the circus tour live’ for the best version. Rule the World is the final song. I was fortunate to be there the night of the filming at Wembley stadium in London and it’s honestly one of the best shows I’ve ever seen live. Look out for the mechanical elephant! 12 years later in still gives me goosebumps xx

One of their best songs! I’ve been a fan since 1993 and they always nail every song. They truly are the best. ❤ and I’m a Gary girl from the start. He’s everything 😍

OMG, this is my favourite Take That song! Every time I hear it I get a little bit teary-eyed. It's a perfect song for a photo show or end credits in a movie. But live it's even better when the crowd sings along to the chorus. Please check out some performances of their circus tour. There are some things that I've never seen on a concert before...

I will never understand why Take That have not made it big in America. They are fantastic singers and songwriters and they put on an amazing show. They would be perfect for a residency in Las Vegas.

As a music obsessed American, I am totally ashamed of the American music industry for not latching onto these guys and letting them be as phenomenal a group here as they were in Europe. As far as I'm concerned, there has never been anyone better.

You should go through TT’s music chronologically to see how they’ve developed over the years. Boy band to man gods! And there’s loads of clips of this live - it’s stunning as it’s usually the finale to their shows!

You are right about this live, I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen them and this is always lit up with all the camera flash lights and usually one of the last songs so fireworks start going off. Also the clips are from the movie Stardust which the song was written for.

OMG This song! I love it so much. So Beautiful. Take That is just 🥰 My heart. ♥️ Their music really goes through many changes over the years. From teens to now. Aging like fine wine. And they are amazing live! Well I’ve only seen a couple of their concerts on TV but they can put on a show for sure. Likewise Robbie for me. Him I have seen live in concert though. The experience! Thank You so much for reacting to them. I loved it! And more Robbie too you say? I’ll be 👀

This is one of my faves. You should check out some of their early stuff. They were being marketed at straight girls and gay boys. Lots of romantic ballads interspersed with sexy dance tracks. 'Relight My Fire' 'A Million Love Songs Later' 'Babe' 'Everything Changes But You' - all fabulous.

I was 16 when this single first came out back in 2007. It was everywhere here in the United Kingdom that Autumn - music video channels on the TV, radio, you name it. A few years later, I was on a night out during which I got smashed. And I mean obliterated. I started singing 'Rule the World' and my mate joined in, so we were going through the streets belting this out at the top of our lungs. One of the best end to the night ever. And you're right with your observation about it sounding like a song which would be on a film soundtrack. That's because it was. Gary Barlow wrote it specifically for the film Stardust (I think they put it on during the end credits), which is why it kept cutting to random clips of scenes from the film with Claire Danes, Michelle Phifer, Peter O'Toole, Robert Di Niro, Ricky Gervais, etc.

@heidihumbug2 жыл бұрын
They did sing this at the closing ceremony; what very few people outside the fan base knew at the time was that just a week earlier, Gary’s (lead singer on this) wife gave birth to their stillborn daughter. Jason, Howard and Mark were ready to cancel their performance but Gary didn’t want to let anyone down and went ahead with it, leaving straight after. When you rewatch it, knowing all this, you really see the lads looking to him to check he’s ok, and you hear the emotion in Gary’s voice. It’s heartbreaking to watch. Later that year, he wrote a song for his solo album called ‘Let Me Go’ for Poppy, a joyous, upbeat song that his audiences always respond to... which in itself is a great tribute to his little girl ❤️
