@@jeremyalm9006 Where I used to work, I had a boss leave for greener pastures and as SIC I got saddled with his work. He went to tech college for it, I didn't. Around the time when it was about to be clear I was in over my head, he came to visit...and asked me personally how I felt about him returning and taking his old job away from me. We'd worked together for years before--i even mowed his lawn for him when he broke his collar bone--so I was honest about it. Made him feel better he wasn't taking anything away from me. Best boss I ever had. Even when he tossed me under the bus, he'd admit later his instinct had been dead wrong.

Once heard a phrase from a leader of an organisation I really respected saying (of his own exit), that the lasting impression we make is the same as that of taking our hand out of a bucket of water. I was impressed with the humility, self awareness and wisdom of those words.

This epitomizes the fall from grace of the show after Sorkin left. There's no way Leo would continue on ignorantly and not "read the room" that everyone is busy, and there's no way Sorkin would play this character with stature for laughs in an average joke at best.

Such a tired cliché. We get it. We really, really, really get it: The White house staff is super-dooper busy. My goodness! They can't even have a ten-minute meeting without being called away to an emergency! I used to live on Pennsylvania Av about a mile from the Capitol. I would meet my wife as she walked home from work, and the half-way point just happened to be on the East Capitol grounds. I'd usually be there just a few minutes after five. I can't speak for the West Wing, but at the Capitol, every day at five to five thirty, it looked like the building was on fire the way people were leaving. I think this whole "everybody works 25 hours a day, 8 days a week" is a myth.
