You could've won 2 turn earlier, instead of diagonally if you put a marble up the second layer in that corner and rotated top layer and is a vertical win. Another option could've been rotating second layer to the opposite side and top corner marble

He could have won on the round he set up the diagonal, he had 2 going up and then two that were one rotation away from also going up, so if he placed a piece in the third one from the bottom and rotated the fourth, or put one in the forth and rotated the third he had the game a full turn earlier
