In their war against the sea, the Dutch have taken an entire new province from what was the Zuiderzee. Flevoland in the Netherlands is the largest land-reclamation project in the world and is larger than Bahrain or County Dublin. Some former islands and towns such as Urk and Schokland are now surrounded by land. How did they construct the polders and how did the plan the cities, agriculture, transport and economy of the new Flevoland province of the Netherlands?
As the Dutch saying says "God created the world, but the Dutch created the Netherlands".

Another great video. Have been looking forward to it. Such a fascinating topic. We hear about the land reclamation, but I never knew how it was done. Thanks. I hope all is well at your end.

I did watch The Tim Traveller's video. I loved the silly but great idea of climbing the 7 metre mountain! For links to information, I left some in the description of the video.

Isn't Lelystad on the southern polder? Also aren't the delta works on the West of the Netherlands, not the east?

Nice video. A little point of feedback: The deltaworks are not located in the south east but the south west of the netherlands 😊

Nice video! It seems you've done your research, really nice! Greetings from Flevoland (Ps: Love living there, the only downside is the fact that I hate Almere with a fierce passion. But hey, every province or region has their downsides right!)

Lelystad is boring and anything else the best city in Flevoland IS Almere
@letheas6175
@letheas6175 3 жыл бұрын
@@BundsKanzler Lelystad isn't boring, it has, by a large amount, the biggest influence on Flevoland's tourism. I believe it was around 38 percent and Almere at 20%. This is because of the lack of, literally any, big attraction in Almere, something which is absolutely mind-boggling for a city so big. Needless to say, you're wrong. Ps: Not trying to defend Lelystad here though, my favorite place in Flevoland is Zeewolde.

@@letheas6175 are you even dutch?
@letheas6175
@letheas6175 3 жыл бұрын
@@BundsKanzler Yes, I mean, obviously? It's such a Dutch thing to do, to hate on Almere. It's literally all over Dumpert, KZbin, even in the media on TV (also various shows including ZML, Klikbeet) not saying that's the reason why I dislike Almere. Because as I said, that has to do with the lack of attractions (also the lack of green areas/forests/and such. Which has been steadily decreasing even before the decision to sacrifice scarce park areas for Floriade) it's a city that very much feels like the density of other randstad/vinex cities, but without the benefits of it being in a highly urbanised environment (such as attractions or touristic spots). I do like the mobility system and some of the buildings (the WTC) though. It's not a terrible city, I just dislike it that's all. To each their own, right?

@@letheas6175 en btw klikbeet haat totaal niet op Almere ze maken er geintjes over a paard en als je of Dumpert lelystad opzoekt ofzo dan krijg je ook haat. Vriend elke stad in Nederland word gehaat door een menigte a hond
