Well if you damage a viral enough in the first game they start pleading with you or back away almost in a human like fashion, so most likely they are just watching in the back seat.

For anyone curious the guy narrating is the Japanese voice actor, Takaya Kuroda, most known for his role as Kazuma Kiryu from the Yakuza series. He's a very talented voice actor with a lot of credits to his name so go check him out if you like the sound of his voice!

Takeshi turned into a volatile and didn't even realize it! Imagine being unaware you've changed and trapped in your own mind thinking you are helping people. The virus mutated because of Crane escaping after infecting himself with the "cure" and releasing it into the world and now the world is irreversibly fucked with a new strain of volatiles. Yikes! Love the story building here though

@@TheUltrasora completely agree by hearing every detail he's saying it seems to be his humanity is somewhat still in tact however he has no control over what he does (hence the virus is truly the mechanism in control) and it seems he isnt aware he's turned. Also the details of the so called monster he's talking about sounds and fits the description of the revenant variant. It seems techland is hinting at us with these stories that all infected have some form of humanity or lucidity still intact within them. Do you remember on of the; if not first audio stories, where an old woman starts talking about a couple and the husband or boyfriend turns into a volatile, and everyday he goes looking for his lover! At the end of the audio it turns out the old woman telling the lore is in fact the lover of the volatile! Maybe techland will release more audio stories hinting at the nature of all infected and how they still have some humanity left in them. Its crazy that right before Dying Light 2 releases they launch a last call event called Spike's Story for dying light 1, and this audio!

So basically... he turned into a sentient revenant but dont see things as we see it...(referencing crane hallucinating when he was turning) so he remains unaware that he has turned... and at night he might lost himself to his instinct just like the mother so he has kind of absence i guess?... Well this had a truly horrifying turn to the virus if you witness everything but cant do anything but watch when we become fully aware of what has happened So yeah it bring us back to the reality that those are just infected people that the virus control
