Super sharp knives are the best way to prevent tears from onions. It's not fumes as much as a gas that is released when the flesh of the onion is crushed. The crushing happens as the knife presses through the bulb of the onio so the sharper the knife the less crushing and less tears 😊

Hey when you chop onions turn your water on or put a wet wash cloth or a bowl of water by you. the spores from the onion go to moisture when you cut them so you shouldn't cry if you do one of these.
