I’m a pilot for AA based in Miami and this train is a great backup option if I can’t fly down or need it in a crunch. It’s comfy and convenient. In Miami there’s a shuttle that will take you to the airport for $10. Also you can do the metro rail and looks like the Tri rail connects with the Brightline now to the metro rail stop and transfer to the airport. We have a corporate discount with them which after tolls, gas etc costs as much as renting a car or driving my own car after paying for parking.

I live in South florida and have taken the Brightline a handful of times. Its a premium to ride it, but avoiding Miami traffic and not having to take a long Uber makes the Brightline great. Only wish is that it has stops at FLL and Miami airports like the local tri-rail does.

Same here. I live in Delray and fly into/out of PBI, FLL, and/or MIA at least once a month and cruise in/out of Miami and Everglades average once a month, and I can use TriRail for all the above. My only need for Brightline would be for a Canaveral cruise, and until they open a Cocoa station I'll have to go all the way to MCO then take a shuttle, and vice versa. It's still better than the current options, though.

I just took the Brightline from Orlando to West Palm Beach for a weekend getaway. I took the SMART option and paid $39.50 each way so just $79 total. I left Orlando Saturday morning and came back from West Palm Beach late Sunday morning. Both trains were on time no delays at all. It is better than flying in so many ways 1) cost/much cheaper 2) no luggage fees tons of space for luggage 3) check in fast, just scan ticket and go through metal detector (no showing drivers license, no taking off shoes) 4) more leg room than plane 5) bigger windows/better views than plane, we went over the ocean a couple of times and saw boats. For trips of less than a few hundred miles it would be my preferred way to travel. Obviously for longer distances like Florida to California or Vegas a flight is the way to go but for trips like Orlando to Miami and in between this is the way to go. I would do Orlando to Atlanta as well if that were an option. I hope they expand. West Palm Beach very close to a nice Marriott, Brightline has bikes you can rent too. We took a short Uber to Worth Avenue where we had a wonderful lunch. I look forward to taking it again.

Glad to see Orlando natives using Brightline for weekend trips. I know that I would be going to south FL to enjoy beaches by train if I was still in Orlando. At $39, that is the same price or even cheaper than a greyhound bus for a much quicker trip.

@@AssBlasster I live just north of Orlando and so far for the first time I took Brightline for $39 to West Palm and the next month another special from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale. Both places I saw for the first time, I never bothered to drive there and I got everywhere by the local bus or by the very small electric bus or walking. I had a great time seeing two museums and house and small park of a past local artist, and looking at the canals of all the beautiful boats and yachts going to the Miami yacht fest I guess.

For the Orlando trips definitely do the premium. Food, beverage, & the extra leg room makes a ton of sense I’ve never had an issue with delays, but I’ve mostly ridden it from Ft Lauderdale to Miami and back. I think people here are more used to it as opposed to the folks further North, especially when it comes to the crossings
@NicEeEe843
@NicEeEe843 8 ай бұрын
I’ve done both and premium is only good if any type of travel stresses you out and you need the most comfort. Regular seats were nice and I didn’t feel a huge difference tbh (besides the food options if that interests someone a lot but they were really basic options might be better to just find a nice restaurant before or after)

My favorite part of Brightline when it comes to cruises is the flexibility in getting an earlier train from the Guest Services kiosk if you get to the station earlier than expected or get back from the port earlier than expected. That's usually harder and much more expensive to accomplish when taking a plane. The earlier trains are less crowded and have a better chance of running on time as well.

Brightline, over the years, has, in fact, never been found to be at fault in any of their collisions. People driving around the gates, suisides, and trespassers on the railroad property, which is against the law. I think this is probably the future of Higher Speed Rail in the America at least for the next few years. I can't wait for them to construct the Brightline West project from the Inland Empire to Las Vegas and hopefully int the future, Salt Lake City. 125 mph/200 kmh is more than enough speed for most train services to be faster than a plane when you include check in, security, delays, etc so if more companies could offer inter-city express services or even longer-distance night trains at that speed? America could easily become a railroading nation again virtually overnight!

Accidents, weather and etc can cause delays. It happens on any railroad. In this example the crash caused the equipment to be late. In certain cases cancel trains. Not familiar with Brightline scheme of things. But where there's railroad crossings, you'll find many cars trying to go around the barriers and in most cases, lose.

The greatest feature of the premium ticket was the included rides both BEFORE and AFTER each of our trips. We flew into Miami and took public transportation to our South Beach hotel on a Saturday, then on Sunday had a complimentary ride to the Brightline Miami Central Station and continued to the Fort Lauderdale Station. Once there, we also received a complimentary Uber from the station to our cruise ship in Port Everglades. On the return from our Caribbean Princess cruise we were met at the terminal with another complementary ride back to Brightline's Fort Lauderdale Station, and once back in Miami were met with an additional included ride to our hotel near the airport. With the free airport shuttle provided by our hotel we were able to obtain "free" AND (more importantly) convenient transportation transfers for our entire trip. I calculated all the factors involved & when I realized the savings of the ride share feature as well as the alcohol inclusive component the cost of the premium ticket was well worth it because it seemed to have kicked off our vacation in the most perfect way. It was a seamless experience PLUS we were able to include the whole train experience that was an excursion in and of itself!! Do it!!

When the ship arrived in Tampa I just hopped on Amtrak, which took me right back to the same Delray station I'd started at. Only catch, there's only one train a day so I had to spend one night at a Tampa hotel and take a couple of Lyfts, but it was on time, relatively clean and in good working order, the staff & crew were wonderful, and it was cheap ($33.30). I didn't have a reserved seat but the train was half empty and I was able to get a window seat and nobody ever sat next to me.

I was born and raised in Miami, have always been a railfan (and all other forms of transportation) and was excited when they announced they were building a "fast" train system. I plan to ride it to Orlando one time, before they go bankrupt. The whole thing is a gigantic boondoggle. It saves the average traveler nothing. The bus is equivalent and cheaper. Once your "high speed" run turns south at the coast, your train slows down, having to deal with dozens of crossings--including the deadly one at Melbourne. I predict that by 2027 it will be out of business due to lack of ridership. I miss the original Florida East Coast and the Seaboard trains. Glad you enjoyed it--while you can.

Thank you J for you review! I took the Brightline from Miami to Orlando and I liked it. I originally rented a car from my home city outside of Orlando to Miami but gave up the car cause it was too expensive to keep for the amount of days I was staying. Since I had lots of relatives there I was able to get ride but I have Lyft. I too k brightline back for $39. The price varies depending on the time of the year. This was New Year’s Eve believe it or not . The week before it would have cost $99 to go to Orlando. In the past I would drive my vehicle to Miami but a month ago it got stolen in Miami out of the yard where I stayed , so I’m a bit traumatized to drive my own vehicle there now. I can say the brightline is an alternative if you do not feel like driving . It is a good way to read or study while you are escorted to your destination in 3 hours. You also can rent a roomette if you want to be alone .

I'm glad Americans are finally waking up to the fact it is often Way more convenient when good public transit infrastructure is in place that lets you not have a car if you don't want to drive one just to go to another city.

@@qutie1999 Not me, I don't work for Brightline. Just a Tampa native who loved them ever since 2018. But yes, Brightline absolutely does. They are proud to be the most ADA compliant train on the planet. Both Premium and Smart class have those seats. Type Brightline wheelchair on google images and you will see photos of what it looks like. The train aisles are wide and the reach platforms are made for wheelchair assistance.

Amtrak runs that route quite frequently several times a day. It’s actually one of their most popular routes outside of the northeast corridor. Growing up I had cousins that lived in Ann Arbor & my uncle would sometimes send them to Chicago on that route & we would go pick then up at Union Station.

Ironic that Brightline is still owned and operated by the railway that essentially built modern Florida and its now reshaping it into a giant Transit-Oriented Development/Supercity with this train service... Best thing to happen to Florida since the invention of AC!

Hopefully in the future Brightline will be able to invest in grade separation so they can have higher speeds along the coast either bridge or raised track bed. I would say underpass for the roads but the ground water levels are too high along the coast probably. Maybe a combo for both with a slight incline that will not slow the train down too much. It would also mitigate the fatalities along the route.

Considering the cost and the number of crossings (plus the fact that its also used for freight) I'd say the chances of that happening are nil

Just last month I went on a Transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to Tampa. I live in Delray and first had to fly from MIA to Barcelona, so I parked at the Delray TriRail station (which is also Amtrak) and took TriRail to MIA.
