Please make sure to check the catalitic converters. They really like to melt on the top side especially on cilinders 4-5-6. On the last four m54s I parted out were identically melted.

I have used 3/8 socket wrench to loosen those upper gearbox mounting bolts and starter when car is still on the floor, it’s easiest way in my opinion

Laitoin Audi 5-pyttyseen koneeseen X-1R:ää perusteellisen öljynvaihdon yhteydessä ja kyllä se vaikuttaa jotenkin toimivan. Öljy tuntuu virtaavaan paremmin koneessa, sillä öljynpaine on n. 1 bar alempi öljynlämmön ollessa 100c paikkeilla verrattuna ennen lisäaineen lisäystä ja kone käy useamman mielipiteen mukaan hiljaisemmin tyhjäkäynnilltä. Kylmäkäynnistyksen aikainen vajaan sekunnin naputus venttiilikoneistosta on melkein kokonaan hävinnyt 2tkm ajon aikana

Samaa vikaa rahikaisella, perkele on ottanu E61 tukilaakeri ja putken jousto-osan remppa jo vissii 4 viikkoa, välil haittaa työt, välil motivaation puute könytä rulla-alustan päällä kun paskaa ropisee silmiin ja korviin :D Ennen ei ollu ees kattoa ja seiniä, nyt on harvat seinät ja parista kohtaa tiputtava katto, silti ei saa aikaseksi :DD

I don't really agree with that. I have seen many ~400k driven m54's that still have well working oil rings. For example my e61 with m54 has 380k on the clock and it doesn't consume oil/smoke. So I try my luck and leave those there.
