I also think that part of the problem is that people in general are bad at explaining themselves. I remember a study or poll conducted years ago that showed that people seem to generally be more afraid of public speaking that they are of dying, which could suggest an undercurrent of people not knowing how to put their thoughts out there. This leads to even well-intentioned people reducing their thoughts to, "just mash out of it" or whatever.

Against Mays that want to spam and where you are facing down neutral and they're likely to try to either jump in or dolphin, simply Hammer Falling the dolphin is pretty consistent. If she's point blank she may counterhit, but if you're reasonably quick or she's not immediately in your face you'll usually armor the dolphin and then chunk _her_ for the counter.
@Jsunmile3 жыл бұрын
Pot 2P is actually really strong against dolphin pressure. Spamming 2P after S dolphin will beat pretty much all of her grounded options, so she either has to jump or backdash, and in either case you have time recover and block whatever she does. She can bait it and punish with a backdash > S dolphin but if you condition her to do that then it leaves a big hole where you can jump/megafist/hammerfall to beat it. Also in my experience megafist just beats dolphin. Even forward Megafist will go over horizontal dolphin clip the end of May's hurtbox. Take all this with a grain of salt though since I'm just a floor 10 May player but imo Pot has some of the better options for dealing with her.

Side note about gio. 236K aka drill aka spiral arrow is only +2. And leaves her at fS spacing. However her fS, 2S, 5H, and 2D all extend her hurtbox enough so that basically anyway with a 7f or faster 2K can mash and challenge successfully. fS and 2S will trade with 7 or get beaten by 6f ones. 5H and 2D will basically always loses. So don't let gios get away with free blockstring pressure into fS after. Teach them that they only get a 2K. 5K can work sometimes but it depends on the opponents hurtbox. Also for the love of God DO NOT FD OR IB IT She's then +5 or in cS spacing. Either way you get smoked as her cause when she's +5 she can 5H and slow mo counter hit any normal slower than 5f. Along with the tip of it being pure disjoint. fS also works even better but like... 5H counter hit though lol. And on IB cS is 7f startup. So you only can reversal jab or be Sol... 214s. Aka flip move is +4 and way easier to do a fS frame trap after.

Something to note is that I No's only consistent mash punish against most of the cast after a blocked H stroke is 2K>nothing. So just blocking the H stroke is not the end of the world. It's better than trying to look for it and getting CH because you mistimed a throw. explanation of why below Basically, 2K is her only normal that reaches the opponent and also consistently beats most jab mash. However the combo after depends on exactly what the opponent mashes. If it's a standing move, like 5P or 6P to stop a dash in overhead, the additional pushback on hit will push most characters out of 2K>2D range. And you can punish her whiffing 2D by just running up and hitting c.S. Her only option to hit you after a 2K if you're standing is 214K, but that whiffs on crouchers. Of course she can then do 2S if she knows you're gonna mash a standing normal in order to low profile it and maybe get an actual combo on hit, but if you're jumping out or pressing 2K/2P you'll hit her. So her only mash punish that doesn't risk exploding is 2K>nothing. Only exceptions are Chipp, pot, leo, nago, and gio who get hit by 2K>2D even if they're standing. But Chipp, leo, and nago all have mash options to beat 2K. Chipp and leo have invuln reversals and nago 5K high profiles 2K.

It was actually directly after I labbed how to deal with Chipp j.2K that he started blowing up in opinion and 6P v j.2K was one of the things I tested. Not only is your reward not great, because the move tracks and can cross up it's one of the better jump ins at dealing with 6P. At least for Ram it's not a consistent option when moving around because her hitbox on 6P is more forward than above. As noted here the 5P trade and dash ended up being way better. Also bless for adding Ino, she's getting super down played atm so getting knowledge out on her is good.

The things about 6P'ing May's Dolphin is that, even if it works, when it does, it's not because of the 6P's properties. It only worked because your 6P was fast enough to hit May before she is close enough. May's Dolphin in strive is a proximity move, so it has no hitbox until it gets close enough to your character, which means pretty much anything can stuff it. So, there is no point in using 6P over other buttons other than the speed and reward of your own 6P (like Nago may have an ok reward on his 6P, but most characters don't) Going for a fast poke is the safe option, but you can also hard call it with a big button that may land you a big counter hit, May's dolophin get stuffed by anything, even sweeps (note that that doesn't make it a bad move or an easy move to deal with)
@Okagemi3 жыл бұрын
Idk about the proximity part (just because I don't know the inner workings of the game), but I can attest that this right here is 100% true. I've been stuffed by moves that don't even make sense. Also, is it just me, or does the anchor have a hurtbox on some of her moves? Sometimes I throw something out at a distance that should be safe, and I seemingly get struck on the anchor instead of where her hurtbox should be, and I honestly can't seem to explain it
@7r17r13 жыл бұрын
@@Okagemi There is a 'trend' currently in Strive's normals moves. Some move have 'disjointed' hurtbox, which means they have no hurtbox where you can hit them during the start up and active frames (moves like Sol 6S, Chipp's 5H, May's 2S and others...) Most of this moves though get hurtbox on their attacks once the active frame are ended or near the end. So once you whiffed, you can get stuffed on the anchor Most moves have their hurtbox extend BEFORE the active frames though, which makes them counter pokable. There are also few moves that have full disjointed hurtbox, so no hurtbox extended whatsoever. Most of Ram's moves are like this, which is why she is a pain. Nago's 5H Also has no hurtbox extended

@zackeryschaffer28643 жыл бұрын
For I-No, there is no visual difference between SStroke and HStroke. All you have to go off of is speed, but I-No players (myself included) tend not to throw out SStroke outside of combos. SStroke is minus on block and doesn't really have much reward on hit, so in neutral or blockstrings you can safely assume you're mostly going to see HStroke. However if you go with slower methods of challenging HStroke, I-No players can switch to SStroke to try to fish for a counter hit. From my experience the best way to manage the move is to create some distance with FD or longer range neutral pokes; SStroke has a pretty piddly range, forcing the I-No to use the slower HStroke which you can react to

Ah. I think the problem for you might be the default layout in game uses the buttons on the controller in the command list. P=Punch K=Kick S=Slash HS=Heavy Slash D=Dust I don’t know which buttons correspond to which for the default controls, however, there’s a way you can change it to display PSKD instead of X,R1,etc. At the main menu go to settings>system settings>attack button display format and you can change it to PKSHS. Now when you look at the command list it’ll show these buttons instead. For example, command normal 1 should be Forward + P. (6P) Now, hop into training mode. Start>Training Settings>Display Settings Make sure Input History is set to display and virtual controller is optional, but I would recommend setting it to 1P only. Position is up to you. Now when you press the buttons on your controller you’ll see what attacks they correspond to. He is using Numpad notation when he references 6P. So assuming you’re facing right, it’s forward+punch. Here’s a link for numpad notation. www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php/Notation
