just picked up a beautiful IVORY SILVER Light Standard Range 7 SEATER model, and drove it 200 miles home, and LOVE the automated driving 'lane centering' and no problems... it's all good. I found the 'Charging' parameters work fine, allowing you to either set up a specific CHARGE TIMEFRAME, for Start and Finish by TIME OF DAY, versus our trade-in Sorento PHEV, which required jumping thru hooks to figure out that you HAD to set 'departure' time in order to allow the car to decide when IT wanted to start charging, etc... also, I love that the included 120v charger EVSE provides for ADJUSTABLE 6, 8, 10, 12 charging Amperages, if you need to 'ramp down' your amps if sharing a circuit, etc. I also love that the car allows you to REDUCE your 240v EVSE's maximum input from 100% to 90% or 60%, for similar reasons when a 240v outlet is available, but maybe one on a 20amp 240v circuit, etc... or when using my 'fixed' 30amp Ford Mobile Charger for this EV9, but on a lower-rated 20amp 240v outlet. I averaged a great 3.2 mi/kwh on this 75kwh battery pack, driving mostly interstate 85/75 s from N Atlanta to WC Georgia at average interstate speeds of 70, on a perfect 65degree day.

Picked up my Iceberg Green EV9 Land last week. It's probably the best car I've ever owned, save for a few quirks. The visibility and drive are fantastic. After road tripping my Ioniq 5 most of its 55,000 miles, E-GMP charging works best starting around 15-18%. The battery preconditioning shuts off at around 20% SOC, and the battery cools pretty quickly after preconditioning shuts off. Because the curve is so flat, it’s still pulling numbers that many cars start charging at near 80%. In my 3 round trips from Seattle to the east coast and back most of my charging was around 15 minutes.

You are able to purchase a new car in Canada as a US citizen and take it home. There's hoops and taxes and such to pay a deal with, but it is possible. So, you feasibly can get an EV5 when they start selling them (maybe by summer 2025).

Heated/cooled/massage seats for the driver and heated/ventilated seats, for the other passengers is amazing. The drive was very comfortable. Everything else about it felt exactly like what I expect from an electric vehicle. Kia has come along way.
@djcali0019 ай бұрын
Kyle just summed up the entire Kia ownership experience in one sentence. Great hardware let down by terrible software. Not to mention that after three years they paywall even the most basic and essential connected functions like remote start and navigation and split them up into different packages so you’ll need to pay a minimum of $30 dollars a month if you want to both remote start the car and be able to use navigation to pre-condition the battery for charging on a road trip. I finally gave up on my EV6 because I couldn’t pre-condition the cabin while plugged into my charger and I knew both Ford and Tesla don’t charge for basic connected services. Ended up trading the EV6 for a Mach E and have zero regrets as the slower charging just hasn’t made much difference in the real word whereas having the panoramic glass roof, on charger pre-con, phone as a key, and a real frunk are significant upgrades.

Kyle and Out of Spec team, looking forward to you digging into the 12V battery drain issue many EV9 owners are having. Hope you can help get to the bottom of it. So far those monitoring their 12V are seeing large draws from digital key and the fingerprint reader but some have had the battery die in a week or less of ownership even without those activated. We need you on the case.
@fiehlsport9 ай бұрын
Does the TSB that fixes the ICCU (charging) issue also have a 12V fix wrapped in it? Hoping Kia was smart enough to kill two birds with one stone. This TSB is only a week or two old from what I’m seeing. But some are getting it OTA now.
@jasonstewart7649 ай бұрын
@@fiehlsport There have now been numerous confirmed reports from people whose 12V are still dying who previously applied the ICCU service bulletin. So no. It may directionally help the 12V issue. Some people who have Home Assistant setup to monitor the 12V draw both before and after the update noticed that before the update certain activities would overdraw the 12V and the HV battery would not come to its rescue and recharge it. Since the update, the HV battery is usually recharging the 12V, until suddenly it doesn't. Someone also observed a technical description for the EV6 that indicates the vehicle has a counter and when it detects too many 12v drain issues in a row it stops charging it, thinking its already damaged. Same could be happening here. But the root issue appears to still be the things that are constantly waking and drawing large amounts of power from the 12V when its turned off. For example, the digital key pulls over 4v from the 12v, and can do so if the phone is within range in the house even when not in use. All the community has so far is piece of information like this. But at least several new people a day are still reporting new 12V failures on the forums and groups. Most now have the ICCU update.

In Canada the Light RWD is priced at 59995... I wonder if the rebate had anything to do with that...

@BBingo-v5i9 ай бұрын
They kinda did already, tho not with perfectly equal trims? Out of Specs run a KIA EV9 AWD and RWD on the 70mph range test and the range difference was 15 miles in colder temperature (266mi vs 281mi) if you drive them empty. In the winter range test conducted by the Norwegian automobile association the KIA EV9 AWD GT Line did pretty well and achieved 274 miles. (lower average speed than the 70mph range test by Out of Spec, but with big elevation difference). The RWD might not have a heatpump (not sure) while the AWD has one, which could explain the only small difference between AWD and RWD if that is indeed the case. The AWD can also disconnect the front motor and drive RWD only if the front motor is not needed. You should check out the spec sheets and options available for each trim, maybe you could spec a heatpump on an RWD long range model. Take the RWD LR model if you want to save some money. The AWD trims seem like a great choice and worth the extra money, as well.
