my understanding of the story is that the dad was busy at work so the daughter played on the slide/monkey bars and hit her head. she went home called her dad saying she was hurt, and had a bath. the concussion from the head bump caused her to pass out in the bath and she drowned. the dad was devastated and kidnapped the other girl to pretend that was his daughter it didnt work and he killed her. that is why the 13 days is important. he is trying to get his daughter to move on but she died a long time ago, the the girl he kidnapped and killed was more recent.

The girl also looks very similar to the daughter. He lured the girl using the mascot costume. Sounds like a Law and Order SVU episode but definitely makes sense. I think the progression was a bit confusing due to how similar they look.

Im just guessing, but it seemed that the father, the player, is someone who works a lot and kinda neglected his daughter. The daughter in question is Mitsuka, the one with the pink pajama. One night she called her father at work saying that her head hurts alot telling him to come home but he shrugged it off so when he's back, Mitsuka already collapsed and most likely died when he found her. That made him go crazy and judging from the state of the home and also the scene where he uploaded Mitsuka's photo, that her death is already quite sometime. One night in his derrangement, he went to the park and found a little girl in a school uniform who looked like her daughter, Minami Koudan, the one in the missing poster. He presumably mistake her for his daughter and kept on chasing her hence the scene where she run away to the toilet. He managed to grab her and most likely silence her either by choking or drown her. He then took her back home. Judging from the bloody floor and uniform, there's an indication of some cutting board action. Especially with sudden chainsaw showing. With his mind out of the window again, we begin the game with thinking the daughter in question is Minami the schoolgirl, both us the player and the father. Yet after the trip with the camera, everything fall apart and he is haunted by both girls and the murderer figure he became. Who call the police? Who knows? Could be him in derrangement, his neighbor, or even the daughter. In the end when the siren was heard he is in panic and being cornered by Mitsuka her true daughter, he fell or even leap from the apartment with a big thud sound. Followed by another small figure jumping down, silently. The hand conviently grabbing the camera? Could be a passerby or maybe it's the medium owner who came fetching it knowing that it's job is done.

I think that this is pretty much what happened from what I am gathering. There was emphasis in the park about how Mitsuka wanted to master the monkey bars, so she might have fallen and got concussed and died there in the hall after she called her dad about her head hurting.

14:13 actually scared me wtf 😭😭 edit: i THINK what happened is that he was at work, neglected his kid, his daughter's head hurt, when he came home, she had died from whatever it was maybe she starved or it was something more of a freak accident with her health so he lost his mind and dressed up as her favorite mascot to kidnap a girl at the park to "replace" her? probably got frustrated and then killed the girl he kidnapped and the ghost daughter who he missed so much needed him to be punished, knowing what he did then he jumped off the building im just guessing bc there is also so many references to drowning so i'm not too clear on which girl drowned, if anyone i like the story but its a bit confusing to put together

I feel like there are two hauntings happening at the beginning of the game, simultaniously. First is the daughter, Mitsuka. Seems like she went to the park alone, because her father was busy working, and fell down somewhere (the slide?), hitting her head in the process. At some point she says, that she was always bad with hights but was training to get better and show the progress to her father. Later at home, Mitsuka called her father at work, because she had a head ache, probalby fainted after hanging up and succumbed to head trauma. When her father finally returned, he found her dead infront of the phone. After that, he either had a break down and imagined Mitsuka haunting him or Mitsuka actually kept haunting her father by calling him, like she did on the day of her death. The way she is acting, seems like she didn't realize her own death and is stuck in the day of the accident. Most of Mitsukas hauntings are auditory (the phone calls and the announcments in the park) and the only time we see her, is in the end, when she decides to call the police. Her father searched for a way to free her and ,after a while, he came across the spirit liberation website but at this point the 13 days time limit has already passed and he either couldn't free Mitsuka or only thought it wouldn't work without even trying. So he came up with a plan. He dressed up as the Mouse mascot, kidnaped Manami at the local park, probably because she looked alot like Mitsuka, dragged her home and killed her. At this point he maybe thought about tricking the website by either passing of the spirit of a similar looking person (Manami) for his daughter or maybe he was hoping to catch two hauntings at once on camera, so he could use Manami's ghost to free Mitsuka's. Either way, the used a chainsaw to chop up the body and those are very likely some of the trash bags around the appartment. He got badly haunted by Manami and either rolled with it or succumbed to the delusion that Manami and Mitsuka are the same person. Unlike Mitsuka's hauntings the most of Manami's are very unsetteling, showing her hide from the protagonist, in different states of being dismembered, mangeled in one way or the other or drowning. I think the man in the costume is from Manami's point of view and she used this to scare the protagonist and show him what a monster he had become. The woman in the uniform had me thinking for a while, but I remember seeing similar things in other asien horror media, where the spirit of a person changes it's form drastically because they are tainted and consumed by a grudge. So this could be Manami's ghost at it's worst, ready to tear the protag to shreds like he did her. I think at the end Mitsuka confronted her father about his actions and called the police to maybe protect him from Manami. Because if he gets punished for his actions by law, Manami may find peace and won't try to harm him anymore. The protag snaps and jumps down the balcony with Mitsuka following after him.

So at the end, it was the daughter that threw her dad off and she jumped off after him. My best guess is most of your theory, but possibly it was switched around. His daughter died first and then in grief, he kidnapped a girl and then she either end up removing herself or he accidentally killed her.

So, I saw some other people's theory that kinda intrigued me. They said that maybe...maybe the dad kidnapped and killed Minami for a more malicious reason. From that adult ghost we sometimes saw, it seemed that Mitsuka must've died years ago, not just recently. Thinking that the daughter haunted him, the father found some website that told him that they can send her ghost off. But one of the rules is that the victim had to die not more than 13 days old. Clearly, Mitsuka didn't fit the criteria. Because of that, the father decided to...cheat the system. By killing Manami, a girl that resembled her daughter, he made it so Mitsuki looked like she just died. But clearly, the website couldn't be fooled that easily. And the father was now haunted by both of the girl ghosts.

The main plot of the story is pretty understandable, but...i keep struggling to find the place for the ghost lady part in it. Along with the mascot turning into woman one - like you can notice it after first house encounter, the figure of it changes to female and i guess we can see long hair from under the mask(?). And the same girly mascot approaches us in Mitsuka's room. Feels like complete storyline until all these questions pop up back 😮‍💨

I mean, the dad (us) woke up in mitsuka's room with the uniform and the mask with blood. So it's pretty much predictable stuff, tho the missing kid wasn't being Mitsuka was what threw me. Trying to understand this in a way it make some sense... Going in with maybe a nonsense theory, this is just to make myself try to understand the story... I was making a theory where the dad has double personalities, but that won't make sense about the adult/teenage woman ghost. So MAYBE, dad (us) has two daughters actually. One older daughter, and Mitsuka. Mitsuka was the favored one, while the other was forgotten. (This probably isn't true bcs there's not much proof within the game, but this is just what seems make more sense) The 1st daughter reaching teenage state felt extremely neglected, and so she bashed it out on Mitsuka, resulting in her death. Dad was remorseful, and probably proceed to kill his 1st daughter (drowning her in the bathtub), hiding the body within the house. Their deaths weren’t peaceful and so they became ghosts, haunting their dad. The dad became mentally unstable afterward, and we can safely assumed he might have grew another personality/persona to forget bout Mitsuka's death, that persona reflecting the 1st daughter's violence tendencies. Presumably, 2 weeks after their death, the violent persona came out and seek out another victim. That victim happened to be Manami Koudan, who later became the recently missing kid. After the violent persona killed Manami, Dad assumed it was Mitsuka (this is when he forgot Mitsuka's death) So he did all the jazz in the game. But because both of his daughters became ghosts and haunting him now, the 1st daughter wanted to seize full control so she was more violent, with the chasing and chainsaw. While Mitsuka wanted to turn her father in, maybe so Dad could be helped with his mental state. After the dad was sober/remembering what he had done, Mitsuka's ghost (maybe with his 1st daughter more kinder ghost) came out and called the police. But we saw that he was probably thrown off the balcony. It was perhaps Manami's father who threw Dad off, exacting revenge, and later on jumped himself. We got a glimpse of the mascot hand at the very end, so there's a possibility that the mascot killer isn't just one person.

I have theory that the girl at the park he kiddnaped wasn't his first victim in 33:24 when he bends down we can see that on his leg he has a what seems to be a red dot maybe a tiny bit of blood splattered on his pants possibly from someone he killed prior to coming home maybe he was alredy a psychotic person even before Mitsuka died perhaps that what he meant that he was busy with work that work being unaliving other people but that's just my theory this could all be wrong and I am probably reading too deep into the details in this game but hey that's just a theory A GAME THEORY!

Napnever and Hairytom6521 are both correct: there are not one but two ghosts: Mitsuka and Minami; Nap wronged how Mitsuka died but Hairy's right she did died from the bump in her head after passing away in the floor; Minami in other hand,was the one drowned and cut in pieces by the mc driven by his insanity after seeing her wearing his daughter's pajamas. Minami was kidnapped by the mc disguised as his daughter's mascot, the fake Mickey Mouse. How can you differ one ghost from the other?? Minami's the ghost you see in the park, Mitsuki is the one in the room who transforms in a woman's ghost (yeah the one Mike wanted to take a photo) and the MASCOT himself if you notice he/she's wearing a girl's school uniform. About the call, it was the mc in his insanity he confessed his crime then threw himself from the balcony being followed by his daughter's ghost
