I definitely feel ya on the knowing when to chill out on those roads. Had my close call on a 1->2 shift and thankfully didn't cause much damage other than curbing my shoes a bit. @@boostedproject A TH400 with a well sized converter will let a 2J build boost and leave the line very well. A manual can do that too, but takes a lot more work to get right (i.e. Grannas). Since the most important part at the strip is the launch, a th400 car is king, especially if you can lock the converter at the big end. But that setup will absolutely rob hp, and you can feel it on the street pretty clearly.

@@ArthurSperotto yeah I had a 100shot off the line with the th400. That solved the launch issues. I was going to do a dump valve before I decided to go back to manual.

@@boostedproject I'm not sure what clutch you went with, but if you have a very resilient twin or triple, you can slip it off the line to bring the car up to speed (as opposed to dumping it and bogging). Takes a lot of practice, but once you get it right it'll be similar to a nice converter. The Magnus slipper is a nice adjustable valve to help with consistency, I just prefer to do it with my foot. Good luck on the manual ventures brother, I think it's a much more fun world! No shade at the th400 guys tho. We just like to work a little harder and have a little more fun ;)

This ain’t a street bike lol but I know what that’s like when I did my 2J build years ago in a sc and purposely geared it high w a r154 and 3.26 diff. With a laggy turbo It can be rough lol . But depending what gear and you got with that transmission you just put in. To make it factory V160 gearing you need a 4:10 or 4:11 rear ratio! 👍🏼 That’s what my car is currently and I feel the gearing is perfect
