I’m so glad to see someone put their actual bike through some tough terrain. As someone who’s considering an NT110 as a daily, the fact that the AT is so versatile and competent in rough terrain is making me leans towards purchasing it.
@LifeofSmokeyАй бұрын
Yeah no need to worry about it at all , it's not that bad at all. These big bikes are way more capable as most people think. And most of those people never ride offroad anyway 😂. You can't do hardcore enduro stuff with it of course 😅🙈
@KoenPrins25 күн бұрын
So Smokey here has the base AfricaTwin with 21" front wheel. What you can do is take the bike in the middle: the AT Adventure Sport with a 19" and a ton of touring extra's but retaining that unpaved / offroad capability. It will not allow you to win the Dakar Rally but it will help you dream of all the dirt roads in the world you can conquer.

@OG_Army_CWOАй бұрын
Awesome! Haven’t taken my 24 off road yet but will soon. DCT is the way to go for sure. Rode both and I don’t care how good you are at manually shifting the DCT is 4 times faster. Haven’t missed a clutch one time.
@C_R_O_M________2 күн бұрын
Yeah because drag racing the bike is going to be your main use! Having a clutch lever and a manual gearbox not only saves you lots of weight and money but you can also modulate traction by slipping the clutch. DCT is great for cruising and city riding. Not my cup of tea.

Normally I find YTer attempts at humor to be rather futile but your content makes me smile and as a fellow AT ES DCT owner, the stuff you’re putting the bike through is impressive. I’m still learning how to adjust all the variables. Perhaps you could share with us your User 1 and User 2 settings. I would love to set them as User 1 for street rain mode and User 2 for fire roads. A penny for your thoughts…
@LifeofSmokeyАй бұрын
Thanks man appreciate that! I have to be honest....you see me putting the bike in sport and talking about it. Suddenly I realised I completely forgot how to change the 3 sport modes 😂. The menu is sometimes such a complex instrument if you ask me , not talking about the 25buttons on your left hand. Love the bike but they need to simplify some stuff. The user 1 mode is set to have very soft suspension because tour is the "hard" suspension setting. I have so much to setup and figure out myself 😅

@LifeofSmokey I did a BMW Demo day and comparison to my Triumph to the BMW GSA1250 or 1300 , the Triumph handles much easier than either one. Has the same suspension lowering ( you have to press the home button) and I love the electronics. Some people complain about how you have to go into so many sections, but I don't see it as a problem. I'm not daring as you to do wheelies , but it does have more power than the BMW. Happy New Year from South Carolina

Nice video! A little bit irritating is the high mounted nav device because it’s hiding the view of the street (or mud 😄). Why don’t you use your phone with the Honda display and Android/Apple? Then you don’t have to use the additional nav
@LifeofSmokeyАй бұрын
Yeah first ride so have to figure some stuff out 😅. The camera is indeed too low now haha. Last time I used my phone and apple carplay I didn't see that my cable was not charging my phone. So somewhere in Germany in the middle of nowhere suddenly my phone dies that means my gps dies....no phone , no gps , no charger and no idea where I was. That's reason 1 why I also have the big gps , reason 2 is just so I have the big screen to watch the speedometer. Hi Smokey You bought a bike that weighs more than the KTM you had, is down with 60 hp and down with 30Nm. Explain please? Is honda more fan than the KTM, is it more capable off-road? What is it? It can’t be only the DCT.
@LifeofSmokeyАй бұрын
With the KTM is was always riding at 20-30% throttle to make it fast enough for my riding. With the Honda I'm riding 40-50% of the throttle for the same speed 😁. The KTM SAR was an offroad based motorcycle with the suspension being hardcore for this terrain. That also made it very hard and uncomfortable on long +400km daily trips. The KTM also has the low rally screen so I got pain in my neck from riding on the highway for only 50-80km 🙈. Both bike are about the same weight , but the KTM had higher ground clearance that makes it better offroad but I could barely touch the ground with my feet so that made it hard offroad sometimes when I started sliding all over the place 😁.
