Hey, they gotta have em if they’re doing hotpot/Korean BBQ. Too much meat, too much protein. Feels too heavy. Grew up in a Vietnamese household so I’m culturally South East Asian in a lot of ways. We spent all of our lives eating heavy vegetables, seafood, and rice. So when we order fried chicken from like KFC (literally once in a blue moon), you’ll see the aunts and uncles with lettuce ane minty greens and sometimes a special fish orientated sauce to bast in the vegetables

MasunoMoonman I mean having vegetables with meat is not strictly a southeast Asian thing. Traditionally, kbbq is eaten with lettuce, garlic and other veggies and you’re supposed to make it into a little wrap before putting it in your mouth (ssam),. Like lettuce is a must tbh and that’s how I was eating kbbq over in Korea . It’s just in America, I haven’t seen a lot of kbbq places provide the fluffy lettuce that’s supposed to be eaten with the meat. Instead, a medium sized bowl of tossed salad is provided
