Suffering sucks, what is suffering? What does the mind do when you sit in meditation? One spends time and money on external things to make us beautiful externally. What does one do to help the mind heal in times of stress. Thailand is not all fun and food. Find the right teacher. Buddhism is a teaching for all. But be aware Buddhism will put you in the opposite path of what Thailand has become.
