I with my girlfriend just watched Joy Of Painting: Season 1, Episodes 01-03 today. Now I learn Org-mode at night. Learning Emacs and Org for some time - and this is literally the Bob Ross of Org-mode.

Simple and to the point! Good job, thank you

Nice to see someone start at the beginning. I was curious how to use Org-mode without using Emacs, but most people assumed you were familiar with Emacs which wasn't helpful in my case (though likely in lots of others).

This was eye opening to me. I'd always heard of emacs org-mode but this video showed me what it is and how it can be useful!

Mr. Pelaez: Excellent tutorial! For the past two months, I've been attempting to learn Org-mode but I ran into so many problems with it. The only reference; "The Org Mode 8 Reference Manual" by Carsten Dominik" only added to the confusion. Your video however was a great help in teaching me how to start using this and for the first time gave me a true idea how to use it for taking notes in college (This Jan). Thank you very much for the tutorials, and I look forward to many more. BTW if you answer this, is there a reason why the keybinding is not consistent? For example, you said to change the TODOs it's shift right and left arrows. That doesn't work, but the book says C-c c-t which works on my end. I'm finding that all across the board with both EMACS and Org-mode. I'm thinking I'll ultimately have to re-do the keys to match but this adds to the headache of the programs. Again, excellent and thank you.

My last question pertains to timestamps. Let's say I have a meal planner, and want to record the date the recipe was DONE, but then if I do this recipe again and I mark it as TODO the previous date stamp is erased and replaced with the new DONE date. How to access all the previous DONE dates to now how many times / when I cooked this recipe? Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your video. I wonder if you could help me. How to only show specific tasks with a specific mark (like DONE, or any customized word)?

On my PC, Meta key is ESC instead of Alt. So instead of Alt+X I need to type Esc+X. I am using Linux Mint 18
@majorgnu7 жыл бұрын
On Emacs or on a terminal, you can generally prefix a key with ESC instead of holding down Alt while pressing the key. E.g. you can input M-x in two ways: "press ESC and then x" or "press x while holding down Alt." And if you're missing both keys, you can still try pressing Ctrl-[ instead of ESC.

good tutorial, really, but taking notes and doing a to-do list are two completely different things and formats IMO. I would change the title of this video. That said, it got me started.
