This is great on a one on one, but we have an 80 person alliance, I’d say at least 20 of them are ascended whales including our server’s only 50. They’re going to take our territory next week because they’re going to flood our territory early, make sure we can’t pre-setup a defence, sit on our nodes and kill anything that tries to fly in. They’ve gotten to that level that there is no competition between the top alliance and everyone else. For several months they syphoned off all of the whales and large dolphins from every other alliance making one consolidated one. It’s gotten to the point where ROE is what they say it is. The rest of us can “vote” on roe, but if they don’t like a provision they just don’t follow it along with the caveat “what are you going to do about it?” It’s so bad now we have an almost full server war (everyone vs them) and even then they can more or less do whatever they want, which on your average day is making everyone else miserable. For instance one of their favourite things to do is sit in swarm space and shoot anything that enters the system. They’re making the server virtually unplayable for a lot of players.

Realta and a T1/Lvl1 Fortunate are my go-to for this. About a week ago a whale on our server was attempting to raid one of our player's bases. Hopped on discord with a buddy of mine and between the two of us we spam-locked his warship and easily picked off his faction miners with our own warships. We easily held him at bay for 30 minutes or so before he stopped sending his expensive to repair faction miners into the system and our buddy was able to hop on and shield. Prior to us doing this, everyone in the alliance had resigned to just count those RSS as lost. Rev is absolutely correct, a couple non-whale players acting in tandem can easily (with practice) frustrate a whale into walking away from a fight. Great video Rev.

As a proud member of VEGA, thanks for sharing this. That battle was a blast. Another tactic is to Realta spam a friendly base. Instead of boot and loot, boot and repeatedly hit with a Realta. You won't get loot, and nobody else can get in.

That ship is the biggest on our server. 90 million power, so locking him down for a while protected our nodes. Plus it's a fun way to frustrate someone who bought their way to the top. I agree though, the PVP ranges are too wide.

The best tactics to do in a raid defense, if you have back up as well; is one or more player can use small ships to tie up the whale 🐋 or raider, while other players can snipe the miners; while another can keep spam attacking their base with a mix of weaker and strong ships! These tactics work in various situations, even in incursions just modify and adapt

This was a good video and I have already seen these tactics been used on my server. There are some smaller alliances that use this type when they are being raided. Does not always work but it's allways a good and fun fight.

First, I’m glad you made the video. It might help more alliances get more organized and tactical. Unfortunately, this tactic only illuminates how poor the combat system is in this game. There is no range, no real maneuver, and the crews really do not matter. Every combat is the same. More powerful player wins 97% plus. The exception is going to be based on hardware. The combats last 5 seconds whether they go one youndvor a hundred plus. It’s crap. I have fiber, and sometimes my opponents cannot catch me because they lag. OTOH, most PC players can run circles around me with slower ships because I’m on WiFi using an iPhone or iPad 6. Then, if it’s a TC battle, I crash every few seconds in spite of my device being new and supported because there’s something corrupted and Scopely simply will not fix my account. It’s simply not worth my $20 plus a month for Scopely to have someone go into their database and fix it (it’s obvious the issues are not on my end, but Scopely will not admit this). But us on our server with the problem aren’t likely to bother other servers. The ridiculous combat system, that has you pulling out a calculator (seriously, your fleet of starships give you opaque data?) to figure out the crazy math means nothing except in the rarest of battles. No maneuvering for range, choosing your tactics, no ganging up on a bigger ship, no variety of weapons, none of those things are included. You bump, wait, rinse, repeat.

I did thar to a dolphin earlier. He tried ti raid me and was popping my base and returning ships, I managed to get my realta up and I had Rom and Georgiou on it and they didn't have Kras up. I spammed his base for over 10 minutes. Had every one of his ships locked down. I used my realra and a corvette and just did back to back hits.

This is a much older video,so you may not see this, but here it goes. I see this plan making the TEAM win territories. The TEAM benefits from this. But at the end of the day when I started, whatever my delta in level was 10, 20, 30, etc, will always be there. I am now L31 and I am still using Realta to mash against the wall. Sometimes you want to be effective, to win. By the time I am L40, they will still be L50, 60 etc. My Enterprise will smash against the new monster. I will still have to use Realta for takeover. There does not appear to be a way to get better, no skill or training component. It is frustrating.

Works when the big ship is on a capture node, by attacking they don't get the extra 3 points for being on a node, (the realta bomb), and it annoys the hell out of them, particularly when they jump into other alliances just for the takeover!

LOL that just random flyby. Try that in real takeover with 20+ whales and 100-200 meat shield. There are no PVP in this game and those who think otherwise, are part of the "Farmville"

in base defense, you can do a ton of this with only one or a few players, because of the short distances. by the time your 2nd ship is done the spam attack, your first can be repaired and back at it

Is nice trick.. but what do you do if you are on a server with two guilds that both have more than 50 players in the 45+ level range.. if tactics really want to play a meaningful role in the game. Should there really be more possibilities that make ships explode, such as space minefields, distraction tech, better stealth tech, ability to block attacks (just some ideas)

For now: cloaking helps even with scoring for now. And even in TC mass beats class. The same way that Northcut gets swarmed low level ships so can you swarm a territory system with cheap ships. And a bit of scopely lag to the mix and you are set. Also communicate with others that are suffering, work together.

Why not just do what I have seen in other games? If there is a 5+ level difference, you scale the atk/def. If someone is 5 levels above you, they only have 80% atk/def when in PVP combat with you... 10 levels, 50%...etc. Make it so the higher level person still has the advantage, but if the lower level player is determined (or has numbers), they can overwhelm the higher level one.

Cloaking is broken IMO. I would like to see it balanced a bit. Prevention of cloak activation when under attack would be good and would force more creative ways to manage aggro pinning.

I have an idea you could maybe pass to scopely, Rev. In regards to all these servers making whale mega alliances, they should have ships in PvP drop refined materials of their respective levels i.e. g2 ships drop G2 refined gas, ore or crystal. This way those with G5 ships are actively encouraged to war with other whales you have ships that can drop the materials they need to progress. It's a simple change that could help dismantle whale coalitions.

Our alliance is known as the Realta boys. We dont care how big your ship is, you cant do anything locked in base. If we support our allies in territories, we have one mission, SWARM. We might not be the strongest, but we are respected 💯

It would be great if they had 2 tier territory’s so tier 1 up to ops 37 and where it is right now the 2nd tier ops 38+ beyond dark space with the Claus that no one alliance can have territory’s in both tiers that way giving the under 38’s to thrive without whale interference with new alliances made to suit the tiers

we've done this to big ships sometimes on our server, it is so annoying to just watch. Also we've had realtas and shit to attack the allied base actually to defend them in raids. It's far easier, at least in my opinion, to spam attack the allied base with the same ship over and over again, which once you get through once and fill your cargo with what, 2k parsteel? you don't loot anything, your ship doesn't die, and if you can keep it up you can protect the base from a theoretically infinite number of attackers.

This is assuming that you do have superior numbers though. What if the numbers are about even and the whale is just one of many? Especially during TC? On my server it is a joke at this point. The biggest alliances are just splitting the territories the way they see fit (I was in the biggest for a very long time until I decided to join some friends in a smaller alliance).

I really like almost every video u do and I learn a lot. But this one and ur one on base raiding should just be titled “Bullying 101”. Scopely could fix the Pelham attacking all the small ships in a territory defense problem in a heartbeat, but they won’t because the the whales are their cash cows. It is not fair a level 39 can attack a lvl 20 that has no ability to fight back. Either limit the attack levels to 2 or 3 apart or give the small ship the option to initiate a warp Corp breach and destroy both, but don’t pretend that chasing an Enterprise with a Realta is fun for the smaller player who is forced to do it.

I terrorize my server in a realta. It regularly eats things in the 200-300k power range and comes back for seconds. I had one opponent try to kill it in a 270k vidar after the realta killed 2 of their meridians. The Vidar died in 3 rounds of combat....

Easier said then done. Swarming is a good tactic but you have to have everyone committed to the tactic. Whales will camp out at mission waypoints and planets to pounce newbies. I couldn’t even read a mission objective before finding my ship destroyed soon after. Interface needs work too. Having to go through a lot of press to do simple actions. That and seeing the title load screen all the time is annoying. Stopped playing at Lv 14.

You should check s30😂 top alliance has 25 guys lvl 50+ about 40 lvl 40+ and a dozen 35-39. They're allied with the next couple strongest alliances except one that is their enemy. And about half a dozen smaller alliances besides.

I enjoy most of your videos, but this one was on the lame side. I smash up higher level pvp ships on a Nightly Basis, assisted by Mantis and Cerritos. Higher-level players and ships know to be on edge when I come around, and that's the way it should be. Pretty bad logic imo. Most of these high level players are in guilds with more players on average compared to other guilds due to guild level increasing player cap. In a 50 vs 50 fight, with even 1 mega whale, their side will always win. The whale's alliance can also use the same hold up tactic on the weaker alliance to hold up their stronger players while the mega whale takes his time and rips everyone apart. There should be a mechanic where a ship, no matter how powerful gets a debuff that increases every time they fight another player ship. It would allow the whale to still dominate, but still mean that in a protracted battle numbers could eventually whittle him down.

@Revdeuce There is an additional dynamic to this; namely the repair trade. Where lower level ships have an opportunity to inflict a repair cost to a stronger ship then they themselves incur. Sallies optimized for round 1 amd done do this trade nicely vs the ISS jellies we habe flying around. The sally dies, but the jelly pays 2x the repair cost. On our server we actually succeeded in forcing one of the early whales to park their epics and fly much weaker ships due to the tritanium warfare we inflicted on them. At one point they were flying a Corvette and a Vaklas to defend in an active territory challenge (this player had an enterprise and an iss jelly they could not fly due to the repair costs we had inflicted on them; we had tapped out their Trit completely). Also talk to me about how to make a Realta take down a 270k power vidar in 3 rounds. I have done it and have the screenshot to prove it (right next to my screenshot of that same realta taking down a 400k power Franklin..) We have some mad, evil geniuses on 59 -signed, The Dalek of Server 59

That is not a TC defense, it is one ship! It is a player that is just turning up for to be an arse to kill players knowing they will be concentrated in one place. Yes you tie a ship up like this but unless burning is brought back it is not achieving anything, you will still defend the TC as it is only one ship.

Your tactics are bollocks. When you have an alliance that has 20 level 50 plus players, and can bring 200 plus ships to attack, you can’t stop them from taking anything they want. We tried this tactic defending our and our friends territories. We lost 9 territories in as many days. No wins. We tried the 300 ship lockout, they killed enough ships to start gaining access and it was over, The power mechanics are just too far out of wack. They literally overwhelmed the territory, camped on the nodes and killed everything we had. I lost over 300 ships in one defense. That is a lot of bad dying! Ridiculous! Scopley needs to do something to even out the inequity. I guess money buys power here and in life!
