Spanj kills the ship and then salvages the remains. He says they dead already, and I'm imagining the pirates being like "My ship is still intact, I can wait out rescue with remaining life support." Then Spanj starts salvaging the remains. Pirate being like, "Well.....F&*$."

Sadly, ship crew are not willing to work for naught but the glory of killing pirates if you don't give them a share of the loot. Or, in other words, you need to pay them. There is an auto-pay button somewhere, I advise clicking it.

When salvaging, you need to prioritise component's like generators,shield,crew quarters and such, armor and hull doesn't return much and takes longer to salvage. Also a tip for mining, there is a mining modal that shows you hidden asteroids with large amounts of resources.

Press and hold left ALT key to move mouse cursor up and down, release and hold left ALT again to move mouse cursor left and right. It is in the tutorial silly @Spanj

You can repair on the fly, go to build mode and on the left side of the screen are 2 crossed wrenches. Click those.

Having a few mechanics as crew also repair the ship over time slowly.

You can Repair your ship from the build menu as well, and select "AutpPay" for the crew

I always throw together a blocky mess and rush toward the edge of tritanium space. Asteroid hunting on the way. Then find a faction I like that can produce tritanium tier turrets and hunt asteroids for them while raw mining since the tax is nothing when you can bring in 50k ore easy. Build up my ship systems and weapons farming pirates. Then if I want I can set up shop with a station and fleet and/or focus on my ship becoming a dreadnaught of untold power. Eventually I head out to get all the secrets and access the core.

I need you to mentor me in this game lmao. Just picked it up 3 days ago and cant put it down. Struggling even getting to trinium since finding mining turrets has been a bastard. Game is fun, but so far I have been just warping around trying for hours to find pirates and scrapyards.

I notice salvage is a lot like Empyrion - if you cut a part that joins others together, they fall apart or float free.

As Surviving Sam said, it looks like you haven't paid your crew. At 36:35 you are hovering over the crew bar, it mentions this.

Now this is a ship design I was expecting from someone like Spanj, good job! :) You can increase the range of picking bits&bobs via a module. I think this is a bad game design no not put "pay crew" button in crew menu. It buried somewhere in ship info panel. I think blue modules and higher could be installed permanently (for now to gain sweet bonuses) coz you won't find better one's in you current part of the galaxy.

There is a module that increases tractor beam range to pick up loot further away. My understanding is that you salvage the glowy bits which would be higher ore than iron and shoot the iron bits, shooting "breaks off" any modules that may have been attached and all your out for shooting is the iron.

Along about 25 minutes in your fighting pirates. I wonder was I the only one who picked up on your constant use of the picard maneuver? Awesome dog fight by the way, i sense some old school flight sim training. Great watch. The morale issue may have been you didn't pay them. You can select auto pay crews option. It is in your player menu that is the icon on the far right at the top. the auto pay option will be on top of the screen on the right , i don't remember which tab. Also, there is an auto assign button on the ship crew page in the top one third of the screen, it will place unskilled workers in specific roles for you if you have any available, keeps you good until you can find the specific specialists you need.

I Love your videos Spanj keep them coming!! More Avorion AND empyrion PLS!!! (I know You are waiting for alpha 12 same as us XD) In Avorion when your ship has destroyed blocks then you willl recieve a notifications up there just like the C43 detector's if thats not happening (yellow annoying broken glass like warning) your ships is in full shape!!! That being said IF you take damage in your health bar your crew will slowly fix it and repair it to full health again! You can increase this repair process by adding more Mechanics (max possible workforce can be 130%), same goes with Engineers who will help your ship move faster if added more. Also in time you will get repair turrets and/or repair fighters which is amazing tool for repairing yourself for totally free! We usually build multiple ships for specific roles like trading, scouting, mining, defensive (anti torpedo and anti fighter ships mid to late game) etc. and one of the very importand one is a repair ship or repair carrier just dedicated on fixing our fleet! Btw a big quality of life block is inertia dampeners which is basically space handbrakes that only built by either Avorion (best material) or Iron (worst) but non other. It helps your ship slow down a lot faster than regular thrusters in exchange of crazy energy consuption. Try it and maybe you like it! Especially with bigger ships its kinda essential to put on. Hope I could help you in any way by this ...

Just go to a sector that has many stations go to each station. The stations carry different type of crew you need. some carry LT and miner and gunners while the others carry the rest.

how do you rotate your view in strategic mode? I can only seem to pan with arrow keys and zoom with mouse. But I see you and other streamers rotating the screen as well. thanks for the help.

Zoom out instead of pressing f9, then you can pan around....... If it won't let you there is a setting in the controls that allows it.

Only half way through so far but if they have an inhibitor then just run. Stop, attack the first ship that catches up to you and run again. Keep doing that and can make it easier.
