Having your child purposely miss school for a brand deal you signed them up for IS PURE SELFISHNESS! They have their priorities all messed up. They pulled her out of school largely for themselves!

As a teacher, you can tell when a parent is keeping their kid out of school for selfish and wrong reason. You can also tell when a parent is keeping a kid home to do a mental health or fun day. This was them wanting their count days to be full.

Mom has a brand deal isn't a good excuse to miss school and I think you know that. When you care about your child's education, you don't bring them in tardy all the time. It isn't good for the child and it disrupts class.

If Penelope wants to go to college, please support that. Don’t encourage her not to go to college and do “social media”… If you’re worried about her struggling and getting into debt when going to college, I don’t think you’ll have to worry about that. You and Luis are blessed and doing well, I’m sure you wouldn’t allow P to get into debt. Love the podcast btw! A lot of valid points.

If P has been doing social media for long I’d imagine they have some sort of saving account for her. That should be plenty to cover college and if not, there’s always scholarships to cover the rest. Bramty said P would come home stressed. Life is not easy and as time goes by it is only going to get harder and more stressful. We have to teach our kids to know how to handle stress and tough situations. That's why there are so many young kids taking their own lives because they can't take the stress.

School teaches children soft skills more than anything. Teamwork, independence, critical thinking, how to be analytical , problem solving, empathy, responsibility, time management , social skills etc. Being surrounded by others 8 hours a day ( beyond family & friends) is crucial to a child's development. Growing up, I also obviously " disliked" going to school but as I entered the workforce and started building my career, this became significantly more apparent. Learning hard math is not for everyone but it opens up doors to career paths that you would not have , if you were to not take it. Obviously the school system is flawed, but it is sooo important to the child's development. It's not easy but that's life. Humans adapt and the only way to grow is to go through uncomfortable periods of time, even as a child. These are the years to shape them and teach them about hard work

She can learn just the same independent, critical thinking, problems solving skills & responsibility from home schooling as well.. If anything it could build her confidence. It’s not to say that their gonna keep her home all the time they do travel a lot & they have friends w/ kids so her social skills won’t be lacking. They did say they were going to try it out first to see how it goes. The worst that can happen it doesn’t work out & they can send her to a private school or back to public.. honestly she’s a really smart kid and I don’t think she will be lacking in any areas. It seems like they have taught her very well already. The way she speaks & the way her mind works!
@michellepolissky9814

The problem is that the isolation takes the child away from real world scenarios, where there is competition, pressure, and external factors that affect your success. These are factors that affect everyone and its crucial to learn how to manage the stress that comes with his at a young age. This is not to say homeschooling cannot be done well, but I think its very rare thay a parent can isolate their emotional involvement in their child's life, the way a teacher would, to teach them these soft skills. Teachers study for years to obtain this career. What I mainly disagree with is the reasoning behind why they are homeschooling. The time management involved, the work expected, the responsibility required, consistency & routine is just to name a few. The sole reasons why they want to home school is the critical reasons why school is very important.

@@aloguzyessss to everything you said! Now I can compare private, public and homeschool because my daughter did all three. I can confidently say homeschooling has been the best option for her. She has some sort of activity 5 days of the week, so she socializes alot with so many age groups not just her grade level. Plus, has the time to do charity work since she doesn't have homework. She went to 3rd grade in private school and didn't know how to tell time yet, she came home nearly everyday crying because she was struggling! At that point I was concerned in what is she actually learning. Now that we're homeschooling her brain has blossomed because I started to teach her in a way she understood and now she's ahead of the game and her vocabulary is beyond her age. Kids learn differently and that's why many struggle in school.

I feel like adults who say they felt lost in school and didn’t know what they wanted to do when they grew up and look down upon the education system didn’t have true support from their parents. Because parents who take the time to learn their kids, engage and observe their kid’s strengths, put them in extracurricular activities where they can excel aside from the formal/traditional school system and help lead their kids into their future careers. It seems like Mimi and Luis mom weren’t very involved and that’s why you both don’t see the true value of the system. Not every system is great, I will say that for sure. But they are definitely not all bad. You just have to find the right one for your child. You don’t have to always do it yourself. You just have to trust and believe and be present and supportive every step of the way for it to be worth it, idk if any of this makes sense.

Maybe Penelope was so stressed because she missed so many days and it is hard to catch-up. Kids need a stable life especially growing up so her having a routine of going to school is great for her and it will help her in the future. I could give my point of view as a public school teacher, but it really is circumstantial. Some schools are brand new with great programs and some are falling apart. I went into college with zero study habits when in college you actually have to understand what is being taught so I spent my whole 1st year trying to figure out the most effective way to study to ensure that i would completely understand the content that was being taught. Socialization being peoples top priority is crazy! Especially being that out of the eight hours they’re gone they only get to “socialize” a total of MAYBE an hour. School pretty much prepares our kids for corporate America and to me THAT is limiting to children. As a 27 years old women it has taking me yearssss to genuinely figure out what I love, figure out what works for me, my learning style, my passions, ect. Homeschooling gives children the freedom to find the answers to those questions at a very young age. There’s no one to limit them, there’s no students shamming or bullying them into was “cool” and most of all there’s no one to compare themselves too. They create their own standard and typically are much more confident . Just because they’re homeschooled doesn’t mean they can not still attend college or better yet an Ivy League. However, homeschool prepares children for either decision they choose. Entrepreneurship or corporate America. Also, They public school system is definitely lacking. Education has gone down and so many have become teachers because of the security and not the passion. I’m friends with so many women that are teachers that literally say when they have kids they would never place them the the public school system. That’s not to say every school is terrible but we must be real, most schools are not doing very well, and American education is the lowest compared to other countries.

My daughter is almost 2 and I go back and forth all the time thinking about this. Public schools are good for some things but it is a lot for a young kid to go through. I think you guys are doing the right thing for your babies!

A lot of people always speak negatively about public schools only caring about attendance due to funding. However they fail to realize that, that same funding is what funds enrichment programs and resources for students and families. That lack of funding is what is in the way of schools having fun electives and other classes.

The lady was the school social worker. Also, not everyone has the luxury of missing school for brand deals. Students miss and are tardy a lot when there are things wrong at home. This his sometimes the only way kids are kept safe. When the school alerts and notifies the county of neglect ect…

This is my first week of homeschooling and I was feeling so many emotions seeing all these kids going to school. Thinking is my daughter missing out, but this gave me so much peace that I made the right decision, many of the reasons you have I have too and God led me to the decision to do so. Thank you for sharing!

The benefits of homeschooling far outreach the benefits of sending your kids to school everyday for 8 hours . God bless you mama 🤍

Blessed that I’ve been able to homeschool my 4 kids for the past 6 years. We get our work done in 2.5 hours a day, 4 days a week. When people find out they are homeschooled they are surprised because of how outgoing they are. That is 1000% because we get out and enjoy life.
