Hi there, congratulations on getting up the Foss. Great to see parts of my home city that I've never seen before. The building you called the chocolate apartments is known as Leetham's Mill, and was a flower mill before it was converted to apartments. I see that the newly built apartments opposite have been named Leetham House. There never have been any bar walls between Red Tower and Baille Hill because the marshy ground at the confluence of the two rivers was considered sufficient defence not to require any walls.

Hi I'm so glad you finally made it up the foss! As an ex York boat dweller I hadn't realised you can get up there so we'll done! 🙃.... I believe the old chocolate warehouse was originally a store for leethams flour mill that sat in the area of hungate before rountrees moved into it 🙃

Congratulations on the silver propeller!! So much crappus in the water, glad you were able to navigate past it all. DUCK!! I'd hesitate going up in a kayak, but Michael does it in a 57 foot narrowboat... and really moving in reverse.and ducking in reverse too. I see this and get encouragement for our RV adventures, granted we are older than y'all, but still. Some interesting road views, a guy with a cello!! Like the commentary

Hearty congratulations on your much-deserved 🎆Silver Propeller🎉 I have not been able to travel on the UK canals since the 90s. Still, I was active to the extent of hiring a narrowboat for 3 or 4 weeks every spring and fall each year from the 1970s onward. Even then, I did not even dream of attaining such an accolade. I have been addicted to your KZbin channel since Perseverance was in a fresh paint job😏 and the videography and editing skills you both are right up with the best professional KZbin channels. I wonder if the producer and cameraman had taken the time to watch a few hours of your shows and if that is why they contacted you for their channel four programs. I must brush up my vpn skills to be sure about seeing the show when it airs. I also enjoyed the narration aspect of this as well as when you employed it for your saltwater adventure. Keep well and all the best for your future adventures.

I have not seen any of Narrow Escapes yet ,am not sure if is on free to air tv in Australia but maybe can be seen by using a VPN . Anyway how many people from the tv crew actually came on the boat with you ? When I look at the credits of any tv documentary there are hundreds but of course there are separate pre production and post production units .

It is on Channel 4 so yes, you may need a VPN. We just had one producer and one camera person with us.

Hello from Kansas! Would a sonar system help with finding the depth under the boat? There is a search/dive/recovery team in the USA called "Adventures with Purpose", (that's their YT channel name) that uses sonar to search for missing vehicles that may solve missing person cases, and they have some cool over the counter sonar gear that has some fantastic abilities like showing the depth of the water under the boat and the ability to show detail of a car to tell if maybe it's "the car they're looking for" to solve a case. Since you'd know the draft of your boat, you'd be able to tell if your safe or not. Just my $0.02 worth. Thanks!

@@richardjensen6753 Sonar is really only handy on rivers or places like the Norfolk Broads, as the UK canals are generally only a few feet deep. Narrowboats traditionally are 'low tech' for ease of maintenance. Many don't have fuel or water gauges.

Very interesting video, showing all the buildings from a different view, and amazed you got so far. We lived close to where you decided to turn back , so we know it well. In summer it’s normally totally green with weed and water lily type growth, completely covering it, so it could even be more difficult at that time.
