We stayed near the village of Trentinara at azienda-agrico... The hosts Giuseppe and Micaela are wonderful!
The first walk and old mill with the stream is partly on and behind their property.
We also visited the Gole del Calore at Felitto, we don't recommend the hike we did to get there.

Everytime I watch your videos I'm perplexed as to why my grandparents ever left Italy. It must of been REALLY bad economically to leave such a gorgeous place for the unknowns in NYC!! I wish I understood exactly why they left. They must of had little choice. Anyway, you're very blessed. Ty for sharing it with us. ❤

Hi Carlo here, I understand your point of view well, I too would ask myself the same question, to which you partially answered yourself, obviously I have not been able to know the era of your grandparents, however since I am also a good listener (and not only an incredible chatterbox) above all I like listening to the real life stories of elderly people, I have done so many times, and speaking of my area, Positano in particular, I can confirm that from the beginning of the 1900s, and up to about ten years after the second world war, there was incredible poverty here, people were literally starving because they had no food, no expectation of (paid) work and therefore no money, they certainly did some kind of work, maybe even killing themselves for the hard work, and when it went well, they were "paid" with a miserable meal and nothing else, this and many other similar stories I've heard for years, and if other places in Italy were like Positano, that's why many people have fled in search of a better future! 💕😘👋

I did have one Great Uncle Rocco who stayed behind, but our families have lost touch over the decades. Thanks again. You two are awesome people. 💕

My grandparents also left Sicily and settled in Brooklyn. My grandmother came to be with her brother and then was matched to my grandfather shortly after. Rocco & Vita never returned home to Sicily, which makes me sad. My grandmother never saw her mother again! For them, I believe it was economic, but, still, it is hard to understand.

When I visited Italy I asked myself the question why my father left Italy also. After .WWII there was alot of poverty and very little opportunity for young men. So coming to America was the answer to better one s life. People were able to find jobs and make enough money to have a decent life. They didn’t leave because they hated Italy they left out of necessity. The war years took toll on many people.

Two thoughts: a) I chuckled when Nicki said twelve people have read her book and thought it was good. I love how humble and deeply honest she is. There is no doubt the book will be read and loved by many many more. b) Watching the Nicki Positano episodes make my Sundays so pleasant, I look forward to Sundays more than ever. I appreciate the sacrifice of the long arduous walks so we can live vicariously through them. The river and water falls are gorgeous. Cheers!

And in summertime you run into more tourists, right? It makes good sense to pack lightly, keep things like dog food in the car, and get things at a shop up near where the car is parked when you need to replenish supplies. I love that they let the dogs in with you at restaurants. The food looked good. Indie is getting so good at returning to you when you call him. Yes, we can hear the rushing water and birdsong! I think I recall this place from when you visited it last year. It was lovely and peaceful and quiet, except for the nature sounds. Watermelon is the best in hot summertime. I plan to look for your paperback shortly. FYI.

A change of scenery and four walls is always beneficial and helps recharge the batteries. The lovely little creeks and rivers are nice to hear and very relaxing but am sure also very cold for a dip. Nice to see the fur babies enjoying them selves and like children always make friends easily. At last you came back home revitalised. Good idea too to always keep certain items in your car no point in carrying them up and down the steps all the time. Lovely video and change of pace thank you for the getaway❤️

LOL. I was thinking about snakes as you walked along that stream. We wouldn't dare do it for running into water moccasins and copperhead snakes (both poisonous). Plus we have ticks and chiggers so we would have to spray all over our bodies to avoid them. We don't have wolves but we have coyotes, wild pigs, bobcats and cougars....Oh and now bears which we never, ever had when I was growing up. However, the cougars and the bears have run out of habitat in the mountains and have moved down into the foothills where we live. Gracious. You learn early to watch the ground and look around you.

I was fortunate to have parents determined to visit Italy summertimes. Dad worked hard and every other year take my sister and me back home for two months. He built a summer house there. Also would take us to chiaveri for a week at a pensione. He loved traveling and having kids didn’t stop him. It made us appreciate all cultures.

Can’t wait for the book. It’s not cheating to self publish Nicki. Publishing is a hard business to get into so you have to take matters into your own hands like you’ve done. Carlo and I can be author hubbies together 😂.

Absolutely. The way it used to work, many writers who are now well-known had to experience a lot of rejection before getting book deals. You have to wonder how many gave up without getting published. These days it's possible for a self-published book to attract attention from major publishers, so it's well worth trying.

You don't need to go far to discover and experience a gem. The Pizzeria with a view was breathtaking and the 'kiss' sign adorable. Love the hike to your swim even though you walked on a narrow ledge. The dogs always have a good time with other dogs which is amazing. Loved this getaway & well deserved.❤

Carlo, yes. Your answer is much of what I understood my grandparents to have gone through. I wish I would have learned more history from them as you are doing by talking to the elderly. Sadly, they were already very old when I was quite young. and they didn't speak English. But I did enjoy the traditions they brought with them and always, the food!! You and Nicki expose me to much of my roots and heritage...thank you! Although not from Positano, my grandparents came from the Puglia and Campania region in the early 1900s to escape poverty and the oncoming rule of Mussolini. And because of their sacrifices, I grew up here in New York lucky to have all the opportunities they did not have. Grazie for your videos, your conversations, and all the work you and Nicki do to bring us along with you. Grazie amici!
