This video showcases a collaborative Bushfire Recovery Project that is creating a brand-new refuge site for the Stocky Galaxias (Galaxias tantangara).
The Stock Galaxias is a tiny fish species that is at high risk of extinction due to their extremely restricted range in Kosciusko National Park, 56 per cent of which burned during the catastrophic 2019-20 bushfires. South East Local Land Services is working with the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), as well as fish scientists, local contractors, and other partners like Waterwatch to create a brand-new refuge site for the species.
This project is supported by the Australian Government.
