This, to me, is the perfect family day outing. My parents were immigrants who each worked 2 minimum wage jobs so my sibling and I rarely got to spend time with them and they couldn't afford anything too fancy but we did go on family picnics just like this and I'm so thankful for it. I think simple moments like this end up meaning more to a child than any fancy gadget or expensive vacation.

I never heard of Juneteenth until now. I was born in South Korea and came to US when I was 9. Thank you for praying for me. Even though I have chronic pain, and as a Christian I know that God will heal me if the doctors can’t fix me. My church members are also praying for me.

My Mom wasn't ever adopted she lived with several different foster families and lived in a home for kids who are waiting to be adopted. One of the families locked her in a outhouse luckily the neighbors saw it happen and called the police she was immediately moved to another family. The others were really good to her. One family she stayed in contact with I even stayed with them while my parents worked when I was little. I called them my grandparents and my mother called them Mother and Dad. They raised many foster kids some for a few weeks some for years. They won a award for caring for 1500 kids. In a little 3 bedroom house with 1 bathroom. This was back inn the 30's and on. Alot different than it is now but grandma and grandpa were Amazing parents took the kids to church every Sunday they had a huge slide and swingset in their yard and a big garden that was the best part in the summer always had fresh veggies to eat. The kid's were all different some had disabilities one little girl was born with no arms or legs only stumps grandpa made her a board with wheels so she could push herself out to the slide she used her stumps to get out there she could even climb the stairs and go down the slide she did it for a hour going down and back up the stairs. She didn't stay too long I stayed there in the summer as well probably starting in 1st grade in the summer. Got to play with all the kids that was in the 60's. They probably quit taking kids when they were in their 70's they had 4 daughters of their own and they were considered parents to my Mom's brothers and sisters. My Mom's Dad died in the hospital in the 30's he had surgery and he fell out the window. Her Mother walked out went to another state leaving 7 kids alone some were step brothers and sisters to my Mom. Different Dad's same Mom. The kids walked to a neighbor when they had no food for several days and they called the police they all went to different foster homes. Some eventually ended up together for awhile then separated again they found each other when they were older Mom said she found her brothers after they were out of school and one sister she stayed in contact with the other sister she found in her late 20's. At least she could see some often 😅 so grateful I was able to get them all to come to my house back in the 80's so they could all find out what they have been doing. My Mom's one brother died a few months later. He was the oldest. So thank you for sharing your family with us a tiny drop of your lives ❤ we truly love it so much. Especially me because my Mom was a foster child. 😁❤🙏

It’s a fairly recent holiday, so understandable for a non- US resident. Although personaly, I think it would be more fitting to celebrate the passing of the 13th amendment, which is the day slavery was outlawed in *all* US states. Previous laws only applied to ex-confederate states, ignoring the rest.

Our grandson needed very lightweight and flexible shoes when younger following major foot surgery at a year old. We found pedi peds worked so well for him. They were the first shoes he could wear that did not hurt his feet and that helped him to walk w/ o orthotics . The first pair he got he even wore to bed he loved them so much
