Hell yeah man, I’ve neither a 3d printer nor a drone but I’ve been wanting to get into both. Considering how great your printing stuff is, this channel is going to be an amazing resource

Thanks for following along! This channel won't get the same effort in terms of scripting and editing but hopefully there will be some enjoyable and informative videos here from time to time on this crazy fringe hobby 😁

After trying these android sims, aswell as Liftoff, Uncrashed and TRYP i can say DRL is easily my favorite. The racing is far better naturally, and the gameification makes me practice way more. Happy to race with anyone of a Aus timezone.

You are in for an amazing time! ive been doing FPV and 3d printing for a few years and the 2 go together beutifully. As soon as you get the goggles on out in a field you will soon see why screens are terrible compared to immersion. I strongly suggest you get a "lost model finder", small device you wire up to the flight controller that emits a very loud beep when you ditch the drone, can easily be glued to the arm if your quad. You can set it to bleep from a switch on you transmitter, will automatically bleep if detects loss of tramission from the transmitter and then also when the power cuts off if you disarm or ditch and your battery goes flying off. When you flying at 160-180mph then for some reason your quad randomly disarms its VERY hard to find it unless you can see exactly where it lands. I use DJI and can fly 3 miles in any direction, the bleeper comes in very handy. You will need many batteries, with 6s expect between 3-4 mins of good flying per battery. I tend to go out with at least 8 charged, you will also need a parrellel charging board as charging them individually will take hours. The main man in this buisness is Joshua Bardwell, watch all the how to videos he has, absolute god in this field plus live streams several times a week and will reply to every question you send him. Also the GPS will return to close to home, about 100m away so not to kill you, and in my experience are not the best for finding you drone as more often than not the nattery and drone separate when you crash, at which point everything cuts out the anf GPS cant emit anything back to the transmitter. Last point, get a frame with a metal cage that your camera will sit in, i use the Armattan Bagder 5inc on my main drone and the protection for the very expensive DJI camera is incredibly handy.

Appreciate all that! It's a super interesting hobby for sure and I can't wait to finish this first build and get it in the air 😁 Joshua Bardwell's videos have definitely been incredibly helpful, that dude is FPV Jesus.

The gps isn't needed. But you can set up return to home in betaflight. I use walksnail and love it. Personally I think that gemfan make the best props. The vifly is the best smoke stopper.

And goggles are massively important in immersion. But the fpv gov rules for Oz are quite specific around keeping the drone in visual sight which you break when using goggles. So need to be careful. Ideally try to join one of the fpv racing clubs local to you.
@GogglesOFF10 ай бұрын
Very true! I may end up doing both depending where I'm flying and how confident I'm feeling that I won't run into any trouble. FPV club definitely seems like a start but I've been having trouble finding solid info around them. Do they give you a pass to fly FPV outside the club if you have a spotter, or is it just so you can have somewhere legal to fly (at the club)?
@ep1kone10 ай бұрын
@@GogglesOFF no pass possible for FPV outside designated areas as far as I know. Even in designated areas supposed to be a spotter available. Outside designated zones goggle FPV isn't normally allowed unless with spotter and licensed. Solo FPV with goggles is verboten. Using a monitor within visual range is ok for the specific uses noted by MAAA/CASA. Used to be an exclusion below 250g but that doesn't seem to exist anymore. As per below, if doing any solo stuff including with a monitor a lost model finder is invaluable to find your drone in a big clump of bushes or treeline, GPS won't cut it in many situations. Note that remotely guided stuff you program yourself if never allowed either, you must be in control. No idea how CASA allow the DJI stuff, I think they conveniently ignore it.

Oh man, from 3D printing to fpv! It’s a slippery slope! Digital now should be better overall. Just remember that can I fly there app.
