I recently rediscovered this game and subsequently rediscovered my obsession with ants, thanks for the amazing playthrough! I‘m going scouting for queens tomorrow and I’m probably ordering some test tubes to set up my own colony, can’t wait to see how it turns out!

How do you catch a queen ant

So, you know when it gets to certain time of year and suddenly there are flying ants everywhere? Well thats the nuptial flights and that's when you catch a queen. Different species have different times they have their nuptial flights so if there's a certain species you want you'll need to look into that. When a nuptial flight occurs there are 2 kinds of flying ants. There are the big chunky ones, which are the queens, and the smaller ones that are the males. They'll all fly around mate with each other, once they've mated the queens will start walking around the ground looking for somewhere to nest. So what you're looking for, during a nuptial, is for queens that are wandering around on the ground, they will also chew their wings off before nesting, so ideally you want a wingless queen walking around, because you know they've mated if they chewed their wings off. To catch them just use test tubes and plug the end with cotton wool once you've caught one. To keep a queen you want a test tube filled with 30-50% water, plug the water with some cotton wool, you want it so the water can seep through the cotton wool so the queen can drink, but not so that water will pool outside the cotton wool. Put the queen somewhere dark and quiet, and then leave her for weeks. The more you look at her the more chance there is of her not laying eggs through stress. So leave her alone, different times for different species again but it will be a bit of time for her to lay eggs, and then many more weeks for those eggs to hatch into the first workers (called nantics). You don't need to feed the queen until she has her first workers, she lives off the old wing muscles. When she has her first workerse you can start giving them some honey or sugar water and a little bit of protein. There are loads of guides around online so take a look at those, hopefully this gives you a good idea of the process though!

too much food storage more for warriors you SURVIVED AND THE BARE MINIMUM ... THE SECOND CHALLENGE ADDS 3 TIGER BEETLES AND 9 FAST SPIDERS AND THAT MAY CRUSH THIS NOT WELL PLANNED COLONY . Honestly I think you have too much food storage and you need Soldier ants , more soldier ants and enough supporting storage but that is too much food storage . now you need more and stronger warriors .

This game is so unrealistic, ants being washed away by water? If you don't chase them out of your pool, they start breathing water and make their kingdom in water, it's common knowledge
