A good tool for a homeowner to rent a few days and make the needed amount for winter. Pro tools are different. This is good for its job.

Good straight logs are definately faster but if you deal with crooked stuff you do learn how to be somewhat efficient with it too.

I imagine, in some markets you have no choice. I always say that we are spoiled here in central Wisconsin and we truly are. The log supply we have available to us is plentiful and mostly straight and all cut to 100 inch lengths. It’s hard to beat that.

Great road trip for some remote firewood processing. I would have thought you would have positioned the Japa so the log lift would be facing the pile of logs. Good thing you had a LogOx on hand to drag the logs to the machine. Counting on a tree service to cut the tree up into nice uniform pieces is a hit or miss proposition at the best of times.

When towing a trailer, you want to cross the safety chains under the tongue. But it's cool seeing how well this processor handles going down the road, especially since you stated that it's recommended to go 45 with it and you were doing 70 and there was no swaying or excessive bouncing.

Good catch on the chains. I (almost) always remember that.

Going to be a long time before can get the Japa 405 with Perfect-split & clean. Will be really expensive to get one as I would also need to buy a tractor. LOL, maybe the 365 Road to start with at some point.

Is that safety flap on the outlet side of the splitter a new invention? Is it standard? 🤔🤔🤔

Those couple logs that were left probably could have been bucked up and then hand loaded into the splitter I imagine

What is the longest log that can be loaded into the 315 to be processed? Could you use 12 foot long 10 inch diameter logs for raw material feed stock? Thank you

As long as you are able to pull the logs into the processor, you should be able to. In Wisconsin, we get 100-inch logs (8.3 ft) and use those without any issues. A 12-foot log would be a bit long for the log lift. But with a wide and level rack and straight logs, it should be doable. One thing to keep in mind is that there aren't connections for a log rack on the 315, so you won't have any powered rollers assisting with feeding the machine, besides the standard infeed belt.

Here's a thought. Is it a major pain to move the processors with a log kift on them from pile to pile of logs in the woodyard? Log piles in question would be setup to use the log loft and not meed a tractor to feed a log deck.

Moving them short distances with the log lift wouldn't be too difficult. It would actually be easier if you are using the Tractor PTO configuration with a tractor that is capable of lifting the processor. It has a three point hitch on the back, so you could theoretically lift it all and move it from place to place with your tractor without ever needing to disconnect. With the road model, you would need to fold in the log lift before moving it, but that wouldn't be a time intensive process. We reposition them in our yard with the Bobcat and hitch plate, but we have also repositioned them by hand since we keep them on a mostly flat surface.
