As far as I know, no planes travel from UK to France that allow dogs. But there could be private planes or other smaller airlines that may allow small dogs in cabins!

If you have ever gone down to the car deck during a crossing, or towards the end of one with the huge number of bangs and clangs plus car alarms going off you would realise why leaving your dog down there is such a bad idea. At least find a crossing with kennels. Eurotunnel is worth ever penny for us.

There's a few foot passenger ferries that allow you to take dogs, I believe the dieppe to newhaven one may still allow it, for example

Do you need a dog crate on a ferry that your dog has to sit in or can they just sit in the car with a seatbelt?

Whenever I took my dog, no one really cared how my dog was situated. You defenitely don't need a crate, your dog can just sit in the car freely. At least for those short crossings, don't know about bigger trips!

Pity they aren’t pet friendly. Kind of sucks to leave the pet in the car like that. I’m not sure I’d ever have the courage to leave my princess behind like that
