Hi Michael! Thank you so much my friend! a kit with this much detail sort of asks for more detail, like plug wires and fuel lines. Alas, I feel i shouldn't add them to the kit because it should stay box stock to represent what comes in the kit.

I have now started a month or two with making a Willy Jeep like you made this one I had bought a plastic kit scale 1/35 and by measuring piece by piece I make it on scale 1/15 because I am too clean I do not have it easy because I have never done this before in any case I like doing this but I would not make a second one and my interest is because I drove with Willy Jeep during my military service in 1971 In Germany Siegen also drove with Mercedes Unimog and Bedford there and I think also to rebuild this model Unimog when this Jeep is finished ! many greetings from Ostend Belgium. That half double leaf spring is sure interesting, wonder what that's all about. It's looking real good, its always surprising how well a little wash pulls detail and scaling shadows.
@BGsModelWorkshop2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that has peeked my interest there! Sort of a strange deal. The instructions say nothing about hey it's there. Agreed, just a basic wash really helps! The color is so dark, I feel I may go over the wbike thing later with a bit of liter color pastel chalk and "highlight" some of the detail.
@ferreamole2 жыл бұрын
@@BGsModelWorkshop It's the "Torque Reaction Spring” installed from mid 1942 onwards both on MB and Ford cars and on previous by an upgrade kit. It corrected but not solved a phenomenon caused by the very simple steering system. (Note the follwing text is copied from a jeep forum) It's called (the phenomenon) “axle wrap" the tendency of a leaf-sprung axle to twist under braking or acceleration. Willys MB and Ford GPW didn't send a lot of power to the wheels so axle wrap under acceleration wasn't really an issue but under hard braking it was. As the driver stabs the brakes, the Jeep’s axle rotates towards the front of the vehicle, and it wants to take the bellcrank along with it. Since the drag link-which connects to the frame-mounted steering box on one end, and the bellcrank on the other-doesn’t move unless the driver turns the steering wheel, the bellcrank will have a tendency to want to rotate under braking as the axle twists. This will put the driver’s side tie rod in compression, and the passenger’s side tie rod in tension, thus turning the Jeep to the driver’s side, potentially into oncoming traffic.

I've just built the transmission and transfer casing im in step 5 just now it went in no bother whatsoever, It says to add it to that transfer casing first then slide the whole thing in or leave the bottom bar off till later! There's a heck of alot of clean up on it though all them seamlines needing removed and injection pin marks filled really is alot on a 1.16 to a 1.35 armour kit!

I think the model lacks the pintle hook eye bolts. These bolts replace the two lower bolts of the pintle hook on the Jeep and are used to attach the trailer safety chains. Easy to reproduce with some metal wire and epoxy filler for welds
