Overview of the process of assembling, painting, and weathering a 1/35 Mk I Female tank from WWI. This is not a step-by-step instructional video...just an overview of the main steps involved.
If you are thinking of buying this kit, this video should get you familiar with the basic assembly process as well as what's possible for detail and weathering.
This Takom kit creates a very detailed final build. The molds are crisp with a lot of detail and the final product is top notch quality. Some of the assembly processes are not very user-friendly however. The design-for-assembly on some of the sub-assemblies is pretty tedious and leaves you scratching your head on why it was designed the way it was. The brightest spot is the tracks. Wonderful design...individual track links that just snap together and look extremely realistic!
Overall a great kit but will require some model building experience to assemble properly.
NOTE: The home-brewed steel color used for the tracks was a mixture of all Tamiya paints... two different shades of gray of which for the life of me I cannot remember (one lighter and one darker, I know that), red brown (XF-64), flat black, and hull red...all mixed until I got the color that I saw in my mind. Not scientific, but effective I guess.
