And the old ones can be preserved in pictures/videos/musuems etc. During the construction of the Somanya town roads the locals vehemently protested the decision of the govt to demolish their old buildings close to the roadway for a wider road. So the roads there're narrow and there's traffic congestion in town. The buildings even if they've historical importance can be "preserved" in pictures/videos/documents so they can be demolished for newer projects

Yeah charley it's very annoying . When I banter with our cohorts the Kenyas, Nigerias and co online and they ask for a Ghana/Accra skyline photo/video there's not much to show because everywhere is looking like a village for an oil economy, top gold producer no Boko Haram popular country in Africa? We should be more ambitious we're mediocre too much. Our tallest building is less than 23 floors because of "earthquake/ fire service" restrictions. Not to be political but Mahama said he was on course to make us the best country in West Africa at least beating even.Nigeria. look at the Terminal 3, the Nkrumah interchange even his "good looking" E block senior high schools? Ghana we should do better. When people question what we've done with our gold oil cocoa, democracy stability, peace etc we should have tangible things to point to. The whites planned Takoradi so there's a beauty to it. Most of our spaces are not planned

"thanks" to the colonialists who planned it. It's a very beautiful city, with it's hills and valleys, lush greenery, tree lined avenues, well laid out streets etc etc. The authorities should dualise the Sekondi-Takoradi link roads, provide multi storey car parks to decongest the market circle area/on street parking etc etc. The Sekondi-Takoradi population is still less than a million people. The authorities should build high rises and expand facilities in the municipality in anticipation of a population explosion

Our markets are some of the biggest employers/money makers for the economy. A serious govt would look at developing all our major markets into big multi storey Kejetia-like markets to accommodate everybody. There're foreigners/Nigerians coming into our space and our markets should be large multi-storey to accommodate all of us.
@dorkuchotanihu95893 жыл бұрын
@@markntiri8251 Ghanaians should the first to get the market stores first and not the Nigerians or any foreigners. If you go to Nigeria they have dominate all their markets so we also have to dominate our markets. FROM BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS WITH LOVE
@markntiri82513 жыл бұрын
@DORKUCHO TANIHU of course. The 200 million population Nigeria that is close by Ghana is a BIG problem. And now that their economy is failing them and they're beginning to come to Ghana in droves we should brace ourselves for lots of "fights"/discomforts. And the Nigerians are very prolific businessmen, our Asante and Kwahu people are also big businessmen but not as prolific as the Nigeria Igbo, Hausa. The various market associations should police their space so the foreigners don't dominate
@dorkuchotanihu95893 жыл бұрын
@@markntiri8251 The same thing happened in 1970 when then GHANA prime minister BUSIA to be forced to pass a law to Deport all of them to NIGERIA and they also retaliated by Deporting GHANAIANS back to GHANA . The only way is to close all the Borders and redone our IMMIGRATION LAWS that will prevent any illegal immigrants into GHANA. MARK NTIRI, Forget about the so call ECOWAS we have evry right who should come to GHANA and who should not come to GHANA. This have led to higher crime than before than the 60s, 70s , 80s and even 90s. FROM BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS WITH LOVE ✌✌👍👍❤❤❤🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭

Hahaha Rosemond. I spent my childhood in Sekondi-Takoradi, and MOST of the houses we rented then didn't have toilets, and I thought it was normal. Some had the space for toilets but no toilet, so we used public latrines or the sea side. If majority of the houses there still lack toilets I'd be surprised. The authorities only need to give ultimatums to the landlords to provide toilets or risk a fine/jail term and they'd act. We joke too much in this country

If they'd give us BEAUTIFUL quality edifice they're welcome. Some of our Ghanaian architects don't know proper international beauty, only giving us local Kumasi type beauty. You see how ugly the Takoradi airport looks, I'm sure Ghanaian architects built it. Compare that to the Turkey-built Terminal 3 at Kotoka and see the vast difference. See the plaudits we've received with the Terminal 3 We don't have a lot of edifices in Ghana. When we want to build these big important edifices let's give it to the South Africans, Turkeys and top notch Ghanaian firms who have eyes for beauty. We should create the Europe that we see on tv here
