absolutely unbelievable how great Tal is. And most top grandmasters for that matter. His attacking and calculations are nuts, but the little things set him apart even more. He allowed his opponent to gobble up his whole side of pawns with queen while he set up his final assault, going for broke. And with every move becoming increasingly important, he found the perfect time to move his H2 pawn in case he needed space for the king later. This tiniest of moves shows that Tal's FEEL for the game was just as elite as his tactics
@frankiegee6135
@frankiegee6135 7 жыл бұрын
Too bad chess cant work like that anymore. Gms would never fall for those pawn gobbles in this day and age. Computers have taught them how bad that can be.

What you're seeing is Tal calculating down to the half tempo, when his opponents where calculating tempo to tempo. Tal cared nothing for material, position; his goal was victory.

I don't think even Tal calculated everything. Tactical player can of course calculate very long line, but the most important is to feel if this or that sacrifice or compromise will bring you enough initiative or chances to be worth it. Tal games are flamboyant, but a lot of his attack are not completely sound. Now finding the best defense move after move after move against someone like him, almost nobody could do.
