The introduction by Heena have been edited in this video. She actually provided reasoning for the statement (such as broadening its audiences, creating new markets, providing sustainability for it artists, etc). Panditji motivation was to make classical relevant for larger audiences - a recognition that music evolves with time (as has classical --> thats how the gharanas came into being) and doing so while respecting and retaining ethos and nuances of tradition.

we have had many world famous Tabla players ,classical n commercial ,like sankar ghosh ,swapan chowdhury ,allarakha ji ,keramatulla ji ,hiren babu ,samtaprasad ,bikram ghosh ,tanmoy ,sanjay mukherjee ,the great radha kanta nandy ,husband of sipra bose (sorry ,i have forgotten his name )and many others tabla players ,we have heard their playing with our the great vocal n instrumental artists ,or their solo playing ,and we r proud to see them ,but when on TV ,the camera does not show their playing style ,they show only the vocal artist in verious side of camera ,actually Tabla makes a song or instrument complete ,without tabla no body will hear any song or instrument ,still tabla is a secondclass passenger ,

Even Ustad Zakir Husain hated to be referred to as 'Ustad' while his father Ustad Allarakha Khan was alive. So, it's kind of bad in taste when this lad is referred to as Pandit. As musicians we must respect the dignity of such salutations.

"That lady" Heena Patel is a phenomenal tabla master, but with the prevalence of derogatory misogynist comments below videos of and about her, I avoid these comment sections....... yours happened to be visible, and sure enough it's a lashing toward a female musician. Considering the prevalence of misogyny in your culture and the pointless 988 dislikes, I'm inclined to believe it's a case of little tiny males tormented by chics with such immense talent and beauty. Scary, aren't they? I often told late friend/singer/guitarist/mural artist Eva Cassidy she was "terrifying". Your contribution does little toward "popularisation"; snobbery gets you nowhere. Did you notice a red line beneath that word but went ahead and left it as "good enough"? Try a "z".)

This ensemble uses elements of classical Indian music in a formal composition with spaces for variation and flare within the structure, but still a more formal structure than we've come to expect from the music. That doesn't mean it is less than happenin', but don't compare apples and oranges simply because they both grow on trees. This is a celebratory new way to approach and enjoy the tabla, but it does not in any way take away from a more traditional, improvisational accompaniment.

Skills on the tabla, coordination and overall performance is highly appreciated. But saying the Indian classical music is in need for reinvention is utterly stupid. Calling the main performer Pandit is an unwanted hype from their part. Could have replaced the female with a sound producing box. Everything else enjoyable.

Strange how the quality of a tabla player is measured in speed. I found it rather hectic. Talking fast doesnt make one a better poet.

Its not about speed its about the beat he is creating with the speed of fingers and hear it out nicely how smooth is it going. Beautiful sounds can be created with a slow rythm too but its a show where they are to show their extreme capabilities. These are great tabla players and they even play soothing and calming tabla sounds at the same time they can tap their fingers around tabla so fast smoothly. And let me make you clear that simply talking fast doesn’t make one a better poet but if he/she talks very fast without any blabbering and he is making a point and everyone could enjoy what he is conveying. In that case, he/she could be a better poet. Just giving my opinion you can deny my words but i am not trynna humilate you or whatever it is.
